Hemorrhage management system

An embodiment includes a wound dressing comprising: a shape memory polymer (SMP) foam, including open cells, having first and second states; and a hydrogel (HG) included within the cells; wherein (a) in a first position a composite, including the SMP foam and the HG, is configured to be located proximate a hemorrhagic tissue with the SMP foam in the first state; (b) in a second position the composite is configured to be expanded to the second state against the hemorrhagic tissue when the SMP foam is plasticized at 37 C. depressing a glass transition temperature (T.sub.g) of the SMP foam to below 25 C. Other embodiments are described herein.

NEGATIVE-PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY APPARATUS
20170112975 · 2017-04-27 ·

Provided is a negative-pressure wound therapy apparatus capable of causing negative pressure in a closed space defined by a wound dressing and a wound region with a sufficient suction flow rate as needed even with a miniaturized pump device. In atypical use that needs a high suction flow rate, because a pump device (30) with a high suction flow rate is attached to a wound dressing (10) and sucks gas from a closed space (904) defined by a wound region (903) and the wound dressing (10), even when a pump device (20) for typical use is miniaturized and the suction flow rate of the pump device (20) is reduced, a therapy apparatus (100) can achieve a suction flow rate sufficient for atypical use. Thus, the pressure value in the closed space (904) can decrease to a desired value more quickly.

Medical system and dressing for use under compression

In some illustrative examples, a bridge suitable for treating a tissue site may include a bridge sealing member and one or more bridge wicking layers. The bridge sealing member may extend along a length of the bridge, and may define an internal passageway in fluid communication between a receiving end of the bridge and a transmitting end of the bridge. The one or more bridge wicking layers may be disposed within the internal passageway of the bridge sealing member. Other apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

DEVICES FOR BLEEDING REDUCTION AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME

In some embodiments, a system includes an applicator pad, an application device (e.g., a grip), and a reservoir. The grip can be releasably couplable to the applicator pad and configured to dispose the applicator pad against a wound of a subject such that pressure can be transferred to the wound via the applicator pad to enhance hemostasis. The reservoir can be configured to contain medication to be released to the wound via the applicator pad.
