Orthopedic cast ventilator
An orthopedic cast ventilator apparatus and related methods are provided. The cast ventilator includes an air pump disposed within a housing connected to an air delivery cuff via tubing. The air pump draws air into the air mover through a primary air filter and through an air intake aperture. The air pump also pumps air out through a discharge port in the housing, through a length of tubing, through a secondary air filter, and into an air delivery cuff. The cleaned air fills two arms of the air delivery cuff and is forced out through cuff discharge ports.
WEARABLE ASSEMBLY
In one embodiment, a wearable assembly that includes a plurality of components is provided. The components include an eyepiece assembly fittable over a portion of a wearer's face, the eyepiece assembly including one or more strands, at least a portion of the eyepiece assembly including a phase change material, wherein a shape of the eyepiece assembly changes upon an application of an energy to the phase changing portion to one or more of conform and contour to one or more features of the wearer's face; and nosepiece connected to the eyepiece assembly.
Wetness pad assembly, system and method
A sensor pad assembly for detecting wetness, the pad assembly comprising a breathable polyethylene base layer, a first carbon black trace printed on a top surface of the base layer in a serpentine pattern, a second carbon black trace printed on the top surface of the base layer in a serpentine pattern that does not overlap the first trace, wherein at least a portion of the second trace is adjacent each portion of the first trace and an absorbing subassembly including non-woven layers that envelope a super absorbent polymer (SAP) material, the absorbing subassembly adhered to the top surface of the base layer over the first and second traces.
COLD THERAPY CAST BOOT
A cast boot and removable integrated cold therapy attachment is provided for promoting healing, recovery and pain relief, following lower limb fracture or surgery. The cast boot has at least one channel for drainage of condensation or liquid from the interior of the cast boot. The cast boot is configured to support a cold therapy attachment. The cold therapy attachment further has one or more perforated holes for drainage of condensation or liquid. The cast boot has adjustable straps for allowing removable and positioning of the cold therapy attachment inside the cast boot.
Shoulder thermal therapy wrap
A heat/cold therapy wrap for the shoulder envelops the shoulder, over the clavicle and down over a portion of the upper arm. Compression against the shoulder is adjustable via a torso strap and a separate compression strap. A pair of pockets receive thermal gel material, preferably a non-migrating gel which will easily form to the contours of the shoulder and will remain as an integral plastic mass, not migrating within the enveloping bag under pressure. The ergonomically designed shoulder wrap is light in weight and engages the shoulder in a way that allows range of motion exercises in which heat/ice therapy combined with motion are useful to treat frozen shoulder syndromes or adhesive capsulitis. In one embodiment of the wrap an arm cuff is provided at the lower end of the device to encircle the upper arm. Another embodiment has no permanent arm cuff but has a versatile compression strap.
Hardening initiation lamp and use thereof
A hardening initiation lamp for illumination of a light-hardenable bandage, where the lamp is shaped so that it can at least partially enclose the bandage, the lamp including an inner side, which is substantially arranged to face inwards towards the bandage when the latter is illuminated, and an outer side, which is substantially arranged to face away from the bandage when the latter is illuminated, the lamp further including at least one hardening light source having means to initiate a hardening process in the bandage, and at least one illumination light source, which can emit light in the visible spectrum, arranged to illuminate the bandage at least while the hardening process is initiated in the bandage, both the hardening light source and the illumination light source being arranged to emit light from the inner side, substantially in the direction of the bandage, and the lamp further including one or more observation areas, where a light filter is arranged, which allows light from the illumination light source to pass through the lamp from the inner side and out through the outer side.
SHAPE MEMORY SPACER FABRIC COMPOSITE
The invention provides a shape memory spacer fabric composite, being a spacer fabric coated with a shape memory polymer layer, wherein the spacer fabric comprises a first outer layer, a second outer layer and an intermediate spacing layer connecting the first outer layer and the second outer layer; the shape memory polymer layer is made from at least one block or random copolymer selected from the group consisting of the following: polyesters, polyurethanes, polyamides, polyols; the copolymer has at least one phase transition temperature in a range of 4080 C.

Orthopedic cast and splint bandages with encapsulated hardening medium and method
A medical bandaging product that includes a flexible medical material including an elongate fabric, a reactive system, and microspheres. In certain aspects, a component of the reactive system is homogeneously impregnated into or coated throughout the flexible medical material without being encapsulated in the microspheres such that the reactive system remains stable and non-activated in the absence of an activating agent, and hardens upon activation by exposure to the activating agent to form a rigid, self-supporting structure. In this aspect, the microspheres are homogeneously impregnated into or coated throughout the flexible medical material, the microspheres encapsulate an activating agent and are configured to release the activating agent to form the rigid, self-supporting structure.
