Cushion for orthopedic casts
11278438 · 2022-03-22 ·

A cushion for use with orthopedic casts for encasing wrists, forearms and/or hands, when a finger, such as the thumb, is not itself encased in the cast, is provided. The cushion is manufactured from a moisture-proof, non-absorbent, closed-cell synthetic material, in the shape of a portion of a section of a hollow tube, so that when the cushion is placed against a flat surface, an inner surface of the cushion encloses a cavity or an empty space open at one end of the cushion. When the supplemental cushion is in use, the webbing that connects the human thumb and index finger is positioned in that empty space, and more particularly encased within the empty space of the cushion, so that chaffing and injury to that webbing during thumb movement and extension are minimized, while the wrist, forearm and/or hand are encased in the cast.

System for forming a rigid support

The system invention describes a support and improved method of application and removal. The support, comprised of a network of flexible, non-porous, multi-lumen tubing interlaces at a plurality of junctions to form a lattice structure. Apertures designed to accommodate boney prominences also permit air or water to reach the skin underneath and encourage rapid fluid flow internally through the lattice. A hydrophobic, thermal-resistant, flowable padding layer is injected within a secondary lumen to the lattice structure, spanning its complete surface area. As a result, the breathability of the support is not affected by this padding layer because it mirrors the apertures of the lattice. At least one liquid is injected into the structure and configured to transform into a solid when acted on by an external mechanical stimulus.

The extremity medical device waterproof cover disclosed herein may comprise a waterproof extremity cover combined with digit covers and a plurality of traction pads to provide a user with a waterproof environment for their medical device and additional grip for their hands or feet. The extremity medical device waterproof cover may comprise any appropriate flexible, resilient, and waterproof material and may attach securely to a user's arm or leg by an appropriate cuff. The device is designed to overcome the shortcomings in the prior art, which specifically include the lack of ability to grip objects with the hand while wearing a cast cover or reducing the risk of slipping and falling while wearing such a cover on the foot.

Compression garment system

Compression garments and methods may include a head garment configured to be positioned around both sides of a head of a body from a posterior of the head to an anterior of the head and a torso garment. Such garment portions may include one or more controllable pressure applying regions to move lymph from the head downward to the torso.

Toe protection assembly
11135095 · 2021-10-05 ·

A toe protection assembly for inhibiting toes in a foot cast from being stubbed includes a basal strap that is positionable beneath a foot cast. A top strap is pivotally coupled to the basal strap such that the top strap can be extended over the foot cast when the basal strap is positioned beneath the foot cast. A ratchet strap is pivotally coupled to the basal strap such that the ratchet strap can be extended over the foot cast when the basal strap is positioned beneath the foot cast. A ratchet is coupled to the ratchet strap and the ratchet tightens the top strap across the foot cast. A barrier is coupled to the basal strap and the barrier extends across toes on a foot that is positioned in the foot cast. Moreover, the barrier is comprised of a rigid material to inhibit the toes from being stubbed during walking with the foot cast.
