In some non-limiting examples, a system for stimulating tissue growth at a tissue site may include a porous foam and a moisture barrier. The porous foam may include an exterior-facing surface, a tissue contact surface, and a plurality of struts positioned at the tissue contact surface. The plurality of struts may be configured to contact the tissue site and to create tissue deformation at the tissue site without the application of a reduced pressure. The moisture barrier may be configured to cover the exterior-facing surface of the porous foam and to trap moisture at the tissue site. Also provided are other systems, apparatus, and methods suitable for stimulating tissue growth.

Systems and methods for managing fluid absorption from a tissue site are described. A dressing having an absorbent is positioned proximate the tissue site to receive fluid from the tissue site. A reduced-pressure source is fluidly coupled to the dressing and supplies reduced pressure to the dressing. The reduced pressure is periodically decreased to distribute fluid in the absorbent and managed fluid absorption. The system includes a reduced-pressure source and a container having an upstream layer, a downstream layer, and an absorbent between the upstream layer and the downstream layer. The system also includes a sealing member for forming a therapeutic environment having the container and a controller configured to operate the reduced pressure source to intermittently supply reduced pressure to the therapeutic environment and periodically decrease the reduced pressure in the therapeutic environment.

Systems, devices, and methods of the present application can accelerate and reduce medical complications associated with healing of non-planar wounds such as amputation wounds. The devices and methods utilize a collapsing structure and negative pressure to cause the shaped wound to preferentially close. The structure can accommodate movement over curved tissue surfaces, which can utilize scales or interleaved elements to provide efficient wound closure along arcuate paths. This structure can enable gradual closure from the deepest portion of the wound to the shallowest portion.

Epithelialization methods, dressings, and systems

Methods, dressings, and systems for promoting epithelialization of a wound or other tissue are presented. The methods, dressings, and systems help form simulated rete pegs. In one instance, an epithelialization dressing is disclosed that may include a dressing body having a plurality of projections. A plurality of apertures is formed on a portion of the dressing body. The dressing helps manage fluids on the wound and the projections form cavities into which epithelial tissue migrates to from epithelial columns that function like rete pegs. Other dressings, methods, and systems are disclosed.

Abdominal wound dressing

An abdominal wound dressing and methods of use are described that enable the application of negative pressure to the wound site in a healing manner while also limiting the formation of adhesions that would prevent the removal of the dressing. The dressing comprises a layer of porous foam material enclosed by sheets of elastomeric material punctuated by a number of appropriately placed holes. Multiple layers of porous foam may also be used. A suction tube connector is provided on an upper surface of a layer of foam for connection to a negative pressure source. At least one layer of foam is enclosed in elastomeric material and is placed in direct contact with the tissue within the open wound. Fluids are drawn by negative pressure through the holes positioned in the elastomeric envelope and through the foam.

The interface further includes an attachment device, a conduit port, and a multi-lumen conduit. The attachment device is coupled to a tissue-facing side of the flange portion for coupling the housing to a sealing member. The conduit includes a distal end and a proximal whereby the distal end extends through a conduit aperture and past the cavity wall portion into the cavity. The conduit further includes a primary lumen and a plurality of sensing lumens. The primary lumen and the plurality of sensing lumens extend from the proximal end of the conduit to the distal end. The conduit is adapted to contact the distribution manifold.

The timer may also provide indicia of migration progress or termination.
