NON-SILICONE VEGETABLE OIL BASED ANTI-FOAM COMPATIBLE WITH CROSS-FLOW FILTRATION
A method of processing a liquid including adding an antifoam to a process liquid, and after adding the antifoam, continuously feeding the process liquid through one or more cross-flow filter membrane configured for cross-flow filtration, wherein the antifoam includes a mixture of (A) a vegetable oil and (B) an organic emulsifier or surfactant. The antifoam may, for example, not contain silicone.
SEPARATION OF SIALYLATED OLIGOSACCHARIDES FROM FERMENTATION BROTH
The present invention relates to the separation and isolation of sialylated human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) from the reaction mixture in which they are produced.
Method and apparatus for in situ product recovery
A method of obtaining a compound may include adding a substrate to a medium in a reactor, and reacting the substrate in the reactor to form the compound. A first stream is separated from the reaction liquid through a first membrane. A second stream is separated from the reaction liquid through a second membrane. The first membrane is a filtration membrane and the second membrane is configured for liquid-gas or liquid-liquid extraction The first membrane and the second membrane are at least partially immersed in the medium and are moved relative to the reactor during the separation steps.
BARRIER VENT ASSEMBLY
The technology disclosed herein relates to a vent assembly having a vent housing that defines a first airflow pathway, a second airflow pathway, and a third airflow pathway. The first airflow pathway is configured for fluid communication with an interior of an enclosure. The second airflow pathway is configured for fluid communication with the external environment, and the third airflow pathway extends between the first airflow pathway and the second airflow pathway. A membrane is coupled to the vent housing such that the second airflow pathway and the third airflow pathway are in communication through the membrane. Coalescing filter media is disposed within the vent housing such that the third airflow pathway and the first airflow pathway are in communication through the coalescing filter media. The vent assembly defines a spacing region between the coalescing media and the membrane.
One-step scalable fabrication of mechanically robust visible-light responsive oxide-modified metallic multifunctional membranes
A universal, scalable, solvent-free, one-step method for thermal annealing a stainless steel membrane to create a superhydrophilic surface. The superhydrophilic membrane itself, and methods for using it to separate oil and water in an oil and water mixture or for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue and other organic contaminants.
High recovery integrated UF/RO system
This specification describes membrane based filtration and softening systems and methods. A system has a microfiltration or ultrafiltration (MF/UF) membrane unit upstream of a nanofiltration or reverse osmosis (NF/RO) membrane unit, optionally with no intermediate tank. In some cases, the system and method may be used with feed water provided at municipal line pressure to the membranes. NF/RO permeate is collected in a tank and then pumped to a header. Treated water may be drawn from the header for use or recycled to the system, for example to backwash or flush one or both of the membrane units. In a combined process, NF/RO permeate flushes the feed side of the NF/RO unit and then backwashes the MF/UF unit. In another process, the MF/UF unit and NF/RO unit are filled with NF/RO permeate before being placed in a standby mode.
Filtration method using porous membrane
Provided is a filtration method that includes a cleaning step and involves the use of a porous membrane, wherein the filtration method offers exceptional resistance to cleaning solutions (chemicals) (chemical liquid resistance) and exceptional filtration performance, and has a long service life. A filtration method includes the following steps: a filtration step in which a liquid to be processed that contains a material to be filtered is passed through a porous membrane configured from a resin having a three-dimensional mesh structure, and a filtrate is separated from the material to be filtered; and a cleaning step in which the porous membrane has a cleaning solution passed therethrough or is immersed in the cleaning solution so that the interior of the porous membrane is cleaned.
Method and apparatus for the filtration of biological solutions
A system, method and device are disclosed for bio-processing a feed stream and providing a constant output by operating a continuous single-pass tangential-flow process. The single-pass process provides high conversion concentration while operating at relatively low feed flow rates, and the process can also be used to provide constant output diafiltration.
Extracellular vesicle isolation by nanomembranes
Provided are methods, devices, and kits for the isolation of extracellular vesicles using silicon nanomembranes. A method for EV isolation includes the steps of collecting a biofluid sample, contacting the biofluid sample with a pre-filtration membrane, thereby forming a first filtrate and a first retentate, optionally, washing the first retentate of the pre-filtration membrane, contacting the first filtrate from the pre-filtration membrane with a capture membrane, thereby forming a second filtrate and a second retentate, optionally, washing the second retentate, and eluting the second retentate from the capture membrane or lysing the second retentate to recover the contents.
TANGENTIAL FLOW FILTER SYSTEM FOR THE FILTRATION OF MATERIALS FROM BIOLOGIC FLUIDS
Systems and methods for filtering materials from biologic fluids are discussed. Embodiments may be used to filter cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from a human or animal subject. In an example, CSF is separated into a permeate and retentate using a tangential flow filter. The retentate is filtered again and then returned to the subject with the permeate. During operation of the system, various parameters may be modified, such as flow rate and waste rate.
