A HOLLOW FIBER AND A PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF
A process for preparing a hollow fiber includes the steps of providing a dope solution including polyamide imide (PAI), providing an aqueous bore solution including polyethylene imine (PEI), extruding the dope solution in an cross-sectional annular shape and ejecting the bore solution in the center of the annular shape, allowing the PAI and the PEI to react, thereby forming an internal surface layer including the cross-linked reaction product, and forming a polyamide Thin Film Composite (TFC) layer by interfacial reaction of aqueous di- or triamine compound and organic di- or triacylhalide compound on the internal surface layer including the cross-linked reaction product.

CROSSLINKED PROTEIN-BASED SEPARATION MEMBRANE AND APPLICATION THEREOF
A crosslinked protein-based separation membrane and application thereof. The separation membrane is formed by attaching a crosslinked protein nanomembrane to a porous membrane, the crosslinked protein nanomembrane is formed by crosslinking a two-dimensional nanomembrane which is formed by phase transition of a protein with a crosslinking agent, the separation membrane contains a dense surface layer and a support layer, the dense surface layer is the crosslinked protein nanomembrane, and the support layer is the porous membrane; the protein is any one of lysozyme, bovine serum albumin, insulin, and α-lactalbumin; the crosslinked protein-based separation membrane has a good biocompatibility, may serve as a dialysis membrane for blood purification, and has a higher retention ratio for large molecular proteins.
Surface modifying agents, modified materials and methods
The present invention relates to surface modifying agents for polymeric and/or textile materials, methods of making and/or using a surface modifying agent to modify and functionalize polymeric and/or textile materials, and/or methods of using surface modified or functionalized polymeric and textile materials, and/or products using or incorporating surface modified or functionalized polymeric and textile materials. For example, the surface modifying agent in precursor form can be styrene sulfonyl azide monomer, polymer or copolymer capable of undergoing a chemical reaction in the presence of heat or light to form one or more styrene sulfonated nitrene monomers, polymers or copolymers, which are capable of chemically reacting with the surface of a polymeric or textile material to endow a specific or desired chemical surface functionality to the surface of a polymeric or textile material. Furthermore, the present invention is possibly preferably directed to a surface modifying agent which comprises a styrene sulfonated nitrene monomer, polymer or polymer containing one or more nitrene functional groups, which are capable of chemically reacting via an insertion reaction into one or more carbon-hydrogen bonds on the surface of a polymeric or textile material in order to chemically attach a specific or desired chemical functionality to the surface of a polymeric or textile material.

A boron-containing proton-exchange solid support may include a proton-exchange solid support comprising an oxygen atom and a tetravalent boron-based acid group comprising a boron atom covalently bonded to the oxygen atom.
BORON-CONTAINING POROUS MEMBRANES AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
A proton exchange membrane includes a porous structural framework and a boron-based acid group bonded to the porous structural framework. The porous structural framework may be formed of an amorphous or crystalline inorganic material and/or a synthetic or natural polymer. The boron-based acid group may be a tetravalent boric acid derivative, such as a cyclic boric acid derivative, borospiranic acid, or a borospiranic acid derivative. The boron-based acid group may be the reaction product of boric acid or a boric acid derivative and a poly-hydroxy compound.
Processes for separation of aromatic compounds using a thin film composite membrane
This invention discloses a method for separation of an aromatic compound from a mixture comprising an alkane using an improved thin-film composite membrane. The membrane is particularly useful for separation of benzene from cyclohexane, which have similar boiling points. The membrane comprises a more mechanically durable and defect-free separation layer as a result of its fabrication from an ionomer solution that is substantially free of dissolved ionic species not associated with the ionomer.

A novel fibrous membrane comprises at least one substrate layer comprising at least 80% by weight of microfibers that carry positively charged and/or negatively charged functional groups, and at least one layer of filtration material attached to the substrate layer, wherein the layer of filtration material comprises at least 80% by weight of nanofibers that carry negatively charged and/or positively charged functional groups. The fibrous membrane is able to remove or reduce the concentration of bacteria, viruses and heavy metals while maintaining relatively high water flow. A filter comprising the fibrous membrane and a method for manufacturing the fibrous membrane are also provided.
