Hollow Fiber Membrane And Its Preparation Method and Application
This invention discloses a hollow fiber membrane and its preparation method and application, belonging to the field of membrane separation. The preparation method adopts a spinning device with a triple-orifice spinneret, including the casting solution, bore fluid and outer solution. The bore fluid, casting solution and outer solution are respectively co-extruded from the inner, middle and outer orifice of the spinneret, respectively, to form the nascent membrane. The nascent membrane is immersed in external coagulation bath to form a hollow fiber membrane. The outer solution and bore fluid are weakly-polar non-solvents of membrane-forming material and are water soluble. Based on the characteristics of the bore fluid and the outer solution, on the one hand, the mass exchange rate between solvents and non-solvents can be slowed down, the formation of dense skin is effectively avoided, and the surface porosity of the membrane is improved. On the other hand, the liquid film between solvents and non-solvents can finally dissolve in the coagulation bath without remaining in the hollow fiber membrane and spinning device. The hollow fiber membrane is prepared without double dense skins, and the surface porosity of the inner and outer surfaces of the hollow fiber membrane is improved, which is good for the improvement of membrane flux.

HIGH SELECTIVITY POLYIMIDE/PES BLEND HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE FOR GAS SEPARATIONS
A low cost, high selectivity asymmetric polyimide/polyethersulfone (PES) blend hollow fiber membrane, a method of making the membrane and its use for a variety of liquid, gas, and vapor separations such as deep desulfurization of gasoline and diesel fuels, ethanol/water separations, pervaporation dehydration of aqueous/organic mixtures, CO.sub.2/CH.sub.4, CO.sub.2/N.sub.2, H.sub.2/CH.sub.4, He/CH.sub.4, O.sub.2/N.sub.2, H.sub.2S/CH.sub.4, olefin/paraffin, iso/normal paraffins separations, and other light gas mixture separations. The polyimide/PES blend hollow fiber membrane is fabricated from a blend of a polyimide polymer and PES and showed surprisingly unique gas separation property with higher selectivities than either the polyimide hollow fiber membrane without PES polymer or the PES hollow fiber membrane without PES polymer for gas separations such as for H.sub.2/CH.sub.4, He/CH.sub.4, H.sub.2S/CH.sub.4, CO.sub.2/CH.sub.4 separations.

Macroporous or mesoporous polymer films in hollow fiber geometry
The present invention is directed towards a method for the preparation of macroporous or mesoporous polymer films in hollow fiber geometry. The method according to the present invention reliably produces macroporous or mesoporous homopolymer or copolymer films in hollow fiber geometry having an ordered porous structure. Preferably, the pores are isoporous. The method involves the purging or casting a polyol adjacent to a film forming polymer solution of at least one homopolymer or at least one copolymer in a suitable solvent while polyol diffuses in and then condenses out of the film forming solution before the solution is immersed into a coagulation bath. The methods also require the presence of a carrier solution or carrier substrate during spinning or casting. The method makes macroporous or mesoporous film formation possible with a single step processing method.
