Selective interfacial mitigation of graphene defects
A method for the repair of defects in a graphene or other two-dimensional material through interfacial polymerization.
Borate-containing membranes for gas separation
Membranes, methods of making the membranes, and methods of using the membranes are described herein. The membranes can comprise a support layer, and a selective polymer layer disposed on the support layer. The selective polymer layer can comprise an oxidatively stable carrier and a borate additive dispersed within a hydrophilic polymer matrix. The oxidatively stable carrier can comprise a quaternaryammonium hydroxide carrier (e.g., a mobile carrier such as a small molecule quaternaryammonium hydroxide, or a fixed carrier such as a quaternaryammonium hydroxide-containing polymer), a quaternaryammonium fluoride carrier (e.g., a mobile carrier such as a small molecule quaternaryammonium fluoride, or a fixed carrier such as a quaternaryammonium fluoride-containing polymer), or a combination thereof. The borate additive can comprise a borate salt, a boric acid, or a combination thereof. The membranes can exhibit selective permeability to gases. As such, the membranes can be for the selective removal of carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide from hydrogen and/or nitrogen.
Aluminophosphate-based zeolite membrane synthesis method
A method of synthesis for an aluminophosphate-based zeolite membrane includes a steps of preparing a mixed solution with a pH greater than or equal to 6 and less than or equal to 9 by mixing an acidic phosphorous source with an alkali source, a steps of preparing a starting material solution by adding and mixing an aluminum source to the prepared mixed solution, and a steps of synthesizing an aluminophosphate-based zeolite membrane by hydrothermally synthesizing the starting material solution.

The active layer has a lamellar structure comprising at least two layers of two-dimensional material. The two-dimensional material comprises transition metal dichalcogenide. There is also provided methods for making the filtration membranes and compositions for use in those methods.
METHOD OF PREPARATION OF NEW SUPER-HYDROPHOBIC MEMBRANES AND MEMBRANES OBTAINED BY SAID METHOD
A method for preparing a super-hydrophobic membrane by cleaning a metal mesh by immersion in an organic solvent; subjecting the cleaned metal mesh to a surface modification treatment to increase its hydrophilicity; coating the treated metal mesh with a hydrophobic organic substance; and drying the metal coated mesh for obtaining the super-hydrophobic membrane. The super-hydrophobic membrane obtained thereby.
Formation of diamond membranes
In a first aspect, the present disclosure relates to a method for forming a diamond membrane, comprising: providing a substrate having an amorphous dielectric layer thereon, the amorphous dielectric layer comprising an exposed surface, the exposed surface having an isoelectric point of less than 7, preferably at most 6; seeding diamond nanoparticles onto the exposed surface; growing a diamond layer from the seeded diamond nanoparticles; and removing a portion of the substrate from underneath the diamond layer, the removed portion extending at least up to the amorphous dielectric layer, thereby forming the diamond membrane over the removed portion.
HYDROGEN SEPARATION MEMBRANE
The present invention pertains to a polycrystalline membrane containing metal nitride particles represented by the general formula MN.sub.x (where M is a metal element in which the Fermi energy is in a position higher than 4.4 eV vs L.V. and x is the range over which a rock salt-type structure can be assumed), in which the crystallite size determined by transmission electron microscopy is 10 nm or less, at least some of the crystallites have rock salt-type structure, and the crystallites exhibit (111) orientation but substantially do not exhibit (100) orientation. The present invention also pertains to a method for manufacturing a polycrystalline membrane, comprising forming, by sputtering, a polycrystalline membrane on a substrate having a temperature of less than 200 C., the polycrystalline membrane being represented by the general formula MN.sub.x and being such that at least some crystallites have a rock salt structure and the crystallites exhibit (111) orientation but essentially do not exhibit (100) orientation. The present invention provides a hydrogen-permeable TiN.sub.x microparticle membrane exhibiting a higher mixed hydride ion (H.sup.)-electron conduction.
