ANTI-FOULING MEMBRANES

A membrane assembly is provided. The membrane assembly comprises a membrane having a first surface and an opposing second surface, and a layer of anti-fouling polymer selected from the group consisting of an optionally functionalized hyperbranched polyglycerol, a hyperbranched polyimine, a zwitterionic copolymer obtainable by polymerizing 2-methacryloyloxyethyl lipoate with at least one of [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide or 2-methacryloyloxyethylphosphorylcholine, and combinations thereof arranged on the first surface of the membrane. A method of manufacturing a membrane assembly is also provided.

Method for preparing homogeneous braid-reinforced PPTA hollow fiber membrane

A method for preparing a homogeneous braid-reinforced (HMR) PPTA hollow fiber membrane combines PPTA hollow tubular braids with PPTA surface separation layer. The method includes following steps of: (1) preparing the PPTA hollow tubular braids, wherein the PPTA hollow tubular braids which are made from PPTA filament yarns are woven by a two-dimensional braided method, the outer diameter of the PPTA tubular braids is 1-2 mm; (2) preparing the PPTA casting solution as the surface separation layer, wherein the 1-3 wt % PPTA resin, 0-2 wt % inorganic particles and 10-20 wt % pore-forming agents are mixed into 75-89% inorganic acid solvent, stirred for 1-3 hours at 70 C.-90 C. to form homogeneous and transparent casting solution; and (3) preparing reinforced PPTA hollow fiber membrane, wherein the casting solution as the surface separation layer is evenly coated on the surfaces of the PPTA hollow tubular braids through spinneret, and they are immersed in a coagulation bath for solidified formation.

MICROLAYER MEMBRANES, IMPROVED BATTERY SEPARATORS, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USE

In accordance with at least selected embodiments, a battery separator or separator membrane comprises one or more co-extruded multi-microlayer membranes optionally laminated or adhered to another polymer membrane. The separators described herein may provide improved strength, for example, improved puncture strength, particularly at a certain thickness, and may exhibit improved shutdown and/or a reduced propensity to split.

Hollow fiber membranes with polydiorganosiloxane polyoxamide copolymer skin layer and methods of making and using the same

Hollow fiber membranes, membrane contactors, and related production and use methods. The asymmetric hollow fiber membranes include a porous substrate having a multiplicity of pores and including at least one semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyolefin (co)polymer. A skin layer including at least one polydiorganosiloxane polyoxamide copolymer overlays the porous substrate. The skin layer is less porous than the porous substrate and forms an outer surface of the asymmetric hollow fiber membrane, while the porous substrate forms an inner surface of the hollow fiber membrane. The skin layer is preferably nonporous.
