CARBON MOLECULAR SIEVE MEMBRANE PREPARED FROM HYDROQUINONE AND THE METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a carbon membrane supported on a ceramic support. The present invention also relates to a carbon membrane prepared from hydroquinone on a ceramic tubular support and to the use of such a membrane. The present invention is focused on the preparation of carbon membranes from hydroquinone oligomer as a thermosetting precursor for gas separation. In an example chemical post treatment of membranes is used for increasing the H.sub.2/CO.sub.2, H.sub.2/N.sub.2 and CO.sub.2/N.sub.2 selectivities.
FORWARD OSMOSIS MEMBRANES
Forward osmosis membranes include an active layer and a thin support layer. A bilayer substrate including a removable backing layer may allow forward osmosis membranes with reduced supporting layer thickness to be processed on existing manufacturing lines.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE MEMBRANE
An electrolyte membrane with a backsheet is sent out from an electrolyte membrane unwinding roller, and is separated with its second side sucked on a suction roller by a first press roller. While the electrolyte membrane from which the backsheet has been separated is transported with the electrolyte membrane sucked and supported on the suction roller, an electrode ink is applied to a first side of the electrolyte membrane to form an electrode ink layer, which is dried by blowing hot air thereto to form a catalyst layer. Thereafter, in a state in which the outer surface of a second press roller disposed close to the suction roller is in contact with and supported on the first side of the electrolyte membrane, a support film is pressed against the second side of the electrolyte membrane by a third press roller and attached thereto to manufacture a catalyst-coated membrane.
Method for manufacturing laminate, and laminate
After bringing a water-containing peeling liquid in contact with a thin flat film formed on a substrate, a support film including a cover film having one main surface thereof is laminated onto the flat film, such that the support film is in contact with the flat film, a cover film-attached laminate composed of a support film and a cover film is then separated from the substrate, and the laminate including the flat film and the support film is separated from the cover film-attached film.
FEATURES ON A POROUS MEMBRANE
The disclosure describes a porous membrane including the following: at least one polymeric feature on a surface of a porous membrane wherein the at least one polymeric features are bonded to the membrane using a nanoscale injecting molding device. Another aspect of the disclosure includes a porous membrane including the following: a first film layer; a second film layer; at least one polymeric feature between the first film layer and second film layer, wherein the at least one polymeric feature is bonded to at least the first film layer.
POROUS MEMBRANES, MATERIALS, COMPOSITES, LAMINATES, TEXTILES AND RELATED METHODS
The present invention is directed to novel, improved, modified or treated microporous membranes for use in textile related applications and which are preferably composed of two or more dissimilar porous membrane or material layers laminated together using heat, compression and/or adhesives. The preferred inventive laminated composite microporous membrane is modified using a technique or treatment such as microcreping to introduce permanent small, regularly spaced, crepes, profiles, compactions, pleats, or wrinkles into the laminated composite microporous membrane for the purpose of improving mechanical strength, elasticity and/or resiliency. In addition, the inventive microcreped microporous laminated membrane more preferably has significantly improved hand or softness, has next-to-the-skin softness, and/or is quiet without crinkling noises during movement, which may be desired performance properties or characteristics of or in textile garments, materials or applications.
PATTERNED MEMBRANE STRUCTURE
The present invention relates to a patterned membrane structure comprising a microporous membrane layer, wherein the microporous membrane layer includes a plurality of flow lanes, the flow lanes are separated by hydrophobic separation channels, and the flow lanes and hydrophobic separation channels form a repetitive pattern; and a method for manufacture of the patterned membrane structure. The patterned membrane structure according to the present invention represents an industrial scale precursor of membranes such as a multiparameter lateral flow membrane comprising separated flow lanes.
Thin film nanocomposite nanofiltration membrane
A thin film nanocomposite nanofiltration membrane or TFC-NF membrane includes an ultrafiltration support membrane coated with a trimesic acid coating layer. The trimesic acid coating layer is formed or self-assembled on the ultrafiltration support membrane by pouring an aqueous solution of a water soluble tertiary amine on the support membrane to form a first coating layer and then applying a solution of trimesolychloride on the first coating layer. In other words, the trimesic acid coating layer can be formed as a result of the liquid-liquid interface of the water soluble tertiary amine and the trimesolychloride. A total thickness of the TFC-NF membrane can be about 150 ?m. The thin film nanocomposite nanofiltration membrane can be free from MPD monomers.
MICROLAYER MEMBRANES, IMPROVED BATTERY SEPARATORS, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USE
In accordance with at least selected embodiments, a battery separator or separator membrane comprises one or more co-extruded multi-microlayer membranes optionally laminated or adhered to another polymer membrane. The separators described herein may provide improved strength, for example, improved puncture strength, particularly at a certain thickness, and may exhibit improved shutdown and/or a reduced propensity to split.
Ultrafiltration membranes and methods of making
The present invention is an integral multilayered composite membrane having at least one ultrafiltration layer made by cocasting or sequentially casting a plurality of polymer solutions onto a support to form a multilayered liquid sheet and immersing the sheet into a liquid coagulation bath to effect phase separation and form a multilayered composite membrane having at least one ultrafiltration layer.
