3D PRINTING ON MEMBRANE OF FILTRATION DEVICE
Three-dimensional printing on a membrane of a filtration device is described herein. Forming the filtration device involves receiving a membrane comprising a porous material, depositing an ink into pores of the porous material, causing the ink to solidify, and continuously building three-dimensional printed structures via micro-stereolithographic three-dimensional printing. Solidifying the ink causes the ink to bond with the membrane.
Hybrid membrane comprising zeolitic imidazolate framework nanoparticles and method of gas separation using the same
The present invention relates to a hybrid membrane mixed with nanoparticles including a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF), and a gas separation method using the same. A hybrid membrane according to the present invention comprises a polymer matrix, and nanoparticles which are dispersed in the polymer matrix and include the ZIF.
CARBON MOLECULAR SIEVE MEMBRANES CONTAINING A GROUP 13 METAL AND METHOD TO MAKE THEM
A carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membrane having improved separation characteristics for separating olefins from their corresponding paraffins is comprised of carbon with at most trace amounts of sulfur and a group 13 metal. The CMS membrane may be made by pyrolyzing a precursor polymer devoid of sulfur in which the precursor polymer has had a group 13 metal incorporated into it, wherein the metal is in a reduced state. The pyrolyzing for the precursor having the group 13 metal incorporated into it is performed in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and at a heating rate and temperature such that the metal in a reduced state (e.g., covalently bonded to carbon or nitrogen or in the metal state).
RESIN WAFER TECHNOLOGIES WITH SOLUTION PROCESSABLE IONOMERS
Various examples related to resin wafer technologies including ionomers and resin wafers with solution processable ionomers and their production are provided. In one example, a wafer includes an ion conducting layer having ion-exchange resin particles and an ionomer binder coating the ion-exchange resin particles. The ionomer binder can bind the ion-exchange resin particles together in the ion conducting layer. In another example, the wafer can contain water dissociation catalysts for promoting water-splitting in the wafers.
Gas separation membrane containing metal-organic frameworks and methods of making thereof
A membrane including a polymer substrate having pore channels and a metal-organic framework disposed on the polymer substrate. Methods of producing the membrane are described. Methods of separating gases using the membrane are also provided.
MEMBRANES FOR THE TARGETED EXTRACTION OF PHOSPHATE
An ion exchange membrane includes nanoparticulate hydrous manganese oxide, wherein, the ion exchangemembrane is selective for the passage of phosphate ion. Methods of preparing ion exchange membranes and methods of seprating phosate also are described.
Metal organic framework membranes
Disclosed herein is an ion selective separation membrane including: a metal organic framework layer formed on, in, and/or around a substrate, the metal organic framework having a crystal structure that includes a first surface and a second surface and includes ion transport channels formed between respective pore windows in the first surface and the second surface; first and second electrodes to apply a potential difference across the membrane; wherein the respective pore windows have a pore size that is less than the hydrated diameter of the ion for which the ion selective separation membrane is selective.
DENDRIMER PARTICLES AND RELATED MIXED MATRIX FILTRATION MEMBRANES, COMPOSITIONS, METHODS, AND SYSTEMS
Described herein are mixed matrix filtration membranes and related, dendrimers, dendrimer particles, compositions, methods and systems and in particular mixed matrix filtration membranes with an embedded dendrimer particles and related compositions, methods, and systems wherein each dendrimer particle comprises at least two dendrimers each having at least two core chemical moieties having a core multiplicity Nc; branch cell units attached to the core chemical moiety or one to another, with the branch cell units attached one to another having a branch cells multiplicity Nb; and a number of surface functional groups Z presented on terminal branch cell units, wherein NcNb.sup.G with G≤3.
ANTI-FOULING AND SEMI-PERMEABLE MEMBRANE
The present invention relates to an anti-fouling, semi-permeable membrane comprising a porous support layer, a thin film composite (TFC) layer formed on a surface of the support layer, and a cross-linked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) layer formed on top of the TFC layer, wherein the cross-linked PVA layer is the reaction product of PVA and a cross-linking agent, said cross-linking agent being a polybasic acid comprising three or more acid groups or precursors thereof. The obtained membrane shows a high water flux and a low roughness suitable for an effective membrane notable for feed solution having a tendency of fouling the membrane.
Polyacid-functionalized porous membranes, related methods, and related polyacid polymers
The disclosure relates to processes, related polyacid polymers, and related articles for functionalizing a porous membrane by contacting the membrane with a polyacid polymer at low pH to stably adsorb a polyacid layer on the membrane pore surface, in particular polyacid polymers including repeating units with a pendent metal-binding ligand or star polyacid polymers. The resulting functionalized membrane is characterized by a high density of free acid groups, resulting in a higher specific capacity for its intended application. The process allows functionalization of porous membranes in a very simple, one-step process, for example without a need to derivatize an adsorbed polyacid layer to impart metal-binding ligand functionality thereto. Such functional membranes may find multiple uses, including rapid, selective binding of proteins for their purification or immobilization.
