Method for forming a base knit suitable for manufacturing hernia prostheses and hernia prostheses obtained therefrom
The invention relates to a method for forming a prosthetic base knit (1) made of two parallel sheets of porous knits, namely a first sheet (2) of porous knit and a second sheet of porous knit, said two parallel sheets being joined together in a discrete manner by a plurality of connecting porous knits (4) spaced apart from each other. The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing H-shaped prostheses for hernia repair from said base knit thus obtained and to the prostheses obtained therefrom.
Amniotic or placental device for ophthalmic use as a dressing with refractory center section
A biodegradable lens-shaped patch useful for healing and treatment of ocular conditions is disclosed. The patch is formed from a biodegradable carrier which carries amniotic extract and/or placental extract. The lens-shaped patch may be shaped in the form of a conventional contact lens and it is applied to a corneal surface to enhance healing thereof. After a certain period of time, the patch dissolves on its own and it need not be removed from the eye by a clinician. In an embodiment, the patch includes a clear central section that may be refractory, and a biodegradable peripheral section.
Device for use with body tissue sphincters
A medical device may include an implantable device for treating a body tissue structure. The implantable device may include a wire structure which may include a wave pattern. The wire structure may be elastic so as to provide a pressure around the body tissue structure such that the pressure may change with movement of the body tissue structure.
IMPLANTABLE DEVICES AND TECHNIQUES FOR ONCOPLASTIC SURGERY
Described herein are devices for placement in surgically created soft tissue spaces, potential spaces, or cavities. The implantable devices generally include a bioabsorbable body having an open framework that facilitates attachment of tissue thereto in a manner that helps avoid post-surgical deformities. Methods for using the implantable devices in oncoplastic surgery are further described.
Annuloplasty Device
A method of repairing a defective heart valve involves positioning first and second support rings of an annuloplasty device in a first configuration on opposite sides of native heart valve leaflets and activating a contracted state of the annuloplasty device so that a first pitch distance between the first and second support rings in the first configuration is reduced to a second pitch distance that is shorter than the first pitch distance to move the first and second support rings toward each other to pinch the native heart valve leaflets.
BIO-ALLOY BRAIDED SELF-EXPANDING BIODEGRADABLE STENT
An implantable device, including: a tube including a plurality of biodegradable biometallic wires braided together, the tube being coated with a flexible conformal biodegradable polymer in an expanded state such that, upon compression and release of compression, the flexible conformal biodegradable polymer-coated tube self-expands back to the expanded state.
Unidirectional and Bidirectional Anchor Scaffolds
A wound closure device includes multiple base elements arranged in a repeating pattern and a first anchor extending from a first side of each base element of the multiple base elements in a first direction for securing itself to a first layer of tissue along a wound within a body. The wound closure device further includes a second anchor extending from a second side of each base element of the multiple base elements in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction for securing itself within a second layer of tissue along the wound, such that the wound closure device is configured to hold the first and second layers of tissue against each other to close the wound.
FUNCTIONALIZED SYNTHETIC SURGICAL MESH
Disclosed herein are surgical mesh materials and methods of production and use thereof.
Self-expanding devices and methods therefor
Described here are delivery devices for delivering one or more implants to the body, and methods of using. The delivery devices may deliver implants to a variety of locations within the body, for a number of different uses. In some variations, the delivery devices have a cannula with one or more curved sections. In some variations, a pusher may be used to release one or more implants from the cannula. In some variations, one or more of the released implants may be a self-expanding device. Methods of delivering implants to one or more sinus cavities are also described here.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REPAIRING A LIGAMENT
A surgical kit for repairing a ligament includes suture tape configured to be positioned across the ligament from a fixed end of the ligament to a free end of the ligament. At least one anchor is configured to position over the ligament. An instrument is configure to secure the anchor to the bone.
