Adsorbent cartridge for oil/water separation
A membrane sorbent is described, which comprises 1-6 wt % silicon carbide nanoparticles dispersed in a polymer matrix. The polymer matrix may comprise polysulfone and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The membrane sorbent is used for separating oil from a contaminated water mixture. The silicon carbide nanoparticles of the membrane sorbent may be made from rice husk ash.
MULTIBLOCK COPOLYMER FILMS, METHODS OF MAKING SAME, AND USES THEREOF
A method for forming an isoporous graded film comprising multiblock copolymers and isoporous graded films. The films have a surface layer and a bulk layer. The surface layer can have at least 110.sup.14 pores/m.sup.2 and a pore size distribution (d.sub.max/d.sub.min)) of less than 3. The bulk layer has an asymmetric structure. The films can be used in filtration applications.

Microporous material and systems and methods for making the same
The invention disclosed herein generally relates to matrices comprising polymers and methods for preparing them.
Gas separation method and apparatus
A gas separation method is provided. The method includes using a gas separation apparatus comprising a selective permeable membrane and a first and second treatment chambers separated by the selective permeable membrane. A mixed gas containing a gas to be separated is supplied into (or generated within) the first treatment chamber, and the gas to be separated is separated from the mixed gas by having the gas to be separated permeate from the first/second treatment chamber side of the selective permeable membrane, which has a stacked laminated structure of a hydrophilic porous membrane, a separation-functional layer, and a first protective membrane, and the separation-functional layer includes a layer of hydrophilic polymer containing water, and the first treatment chamber is provided on a hydrophilic porous membrane side of the selective permeable membrane and the second treatment chamber is provided on the first protective membrane side of the selective permeable membrane.
Minimally swellable biocompatible membrane and preparation method thereof
The present invention relates to a biocompatible membrane, specifically to a minimally swellable biocompatible membrane and the preparation method thereof. The preparation method of the minimally swellable biocompatible membrane comprises the following steps: synthesis of a copolymer containing a skeleton and a hydrophilic group, the introduction of a biocompatible property, the preparation of a biocompatible membrane solution, and the coating of the biocompatible membrane. The present invention can effectively regulate glucose, and has high biocompatibility (long service life) as well, thereby improving the sensitivity, accuracy, reproducibility, stability, specificity and anti-interference ability in a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system, prolonging the life time of the CGM, and greatly reducing the cost of the CGM.
MEMBRANES FOR THE SEPARATION OF H2S FROM H2S-CO2 MIXTURES
Membranes, methods of making the membranes, and methods of using the membranes are described herein. The membrane can include a support layer; and a selective polymer layer disposed on the support layer. The selective polymer layer can include a selective polymer matrix that comprises a mobile carrier comprising a sterically hindered amine or a salt thereof. The selective polymer matrix can further comprise, for example, a hydrophilic polymer, a cross-linking agent, an amine-containing polymer, or a combination thereof. The membranes can be used to separate hydrogen sulfide from carbon dioxide. Also provided are methods of purifying syngas using the membranes described herein.
POROUS MEMBRANES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THEREOF
Polymeric porous membranes, filter containing, and methods of making the polymeric membranes the same are disclosed. The polymeric porous membrane has a first major membrane surface and a second major membrane surface opposite of the first major membrane surface, and a first layer proximate the first major membrane surface, the first layer including a first plurality of pores having a first average pore size. The membrane includes a second layer comprising a second plurality of pores having a second pore size. In some cases, the membrane includes a third layer comprising a third plurality of pores having a third pore size.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING AN OIL-WATER EMULSION
A membrane sorbent is described, which comprises 1-6 wt % silicon carbide nanoparticles dispersed in a polymer matrix. The polymer matrix may comprise polysulfone and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The membrane sorbent is used for separating oil from a contaminated water mixture. The silicon carbide nanoparticles of the membrane sorbent may be made from rice husk ash.
