Prosthetic heart valve with paravalvular leak mitigation features
A prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible and expandable stent with a valve assembly disposed therein. A first cuff is positioned on the lumenal or ablumenal surface of the stent. A second cuff is positioned radially outward of the stent and the first cuff. The second cuff may include apertures that allow blood to pass through the second cuff into the spaces between the first and second cuffs. The second cuff may include a proximal edge with a plurality of notches that may be closed to create puckered areas in the second cuff to facilitate the movement of blood in the spaces between the first and second cuffs. The stent may include struts adjacent the second cuff that bow radially inwardly to create additional space for blood to flow in the spaces between the first and second cuffs.
Tension member routing elements in transcatheter stented prosthesis tensioning system
The disclosure relates to transcatheter stented prosthesis delivery devices including transition elements that route, constrain, support and reduce damage to tension member wear as tension in the tension members is varied to adjust the compression of a stented prosthesis loaded onto the delivery device. Various disclosed tension elements include inserts, edge treatments and guides proximate a distal portion of the delivery device upon which the stented prosthesis is loaded. In some embodiments, the transition feature is positioned proximate a location where at least one tension member transitions from a first orientation that is not parallel to the distal portion to a second orientation that is generally parallel to the distal portion. Further embodiments disclose configurations and methods of selectively locking and unlocking a longitudinal and/or rotational position of the stent frame with respect to the distal portion of the delivery device.
Mitral valve with free edge support
A transcatheter stent-valve having replacement leaflets that are attached along their free edges. The stent-valve frame has supports that extend distally of the replacement leaflets to two fastening sites. The replacement leaflets are attached along a leaflet base forming a linear attachment to the stent-valve frame. The free edges of the leaflets have cords attached; the cords attach the free edges of the leaflets to the fastening sites located on the supports. The stent-valve can be a single component stent-valve or it can be a second component of a dual component stent-valve.
DEVICE FOR USE WITH BODY TISSUE SPHINCTERS
A medical device may include an implantable device for treating a body tissue structure. The implantable device may include a plurality of bodies spaced from adjacent bodies and arranged so as to be configured to extend around an exterior surface of a body tissue structure. The bodies may be configured to apply a static force to the body tissue in a relaxed state and may adjust or move in response to a radially outward force above a threshold level that is acting on one or more of the bodies. The bodies may be pliable and/or made with a pliable material. The bodies may be interconnected via interconnecting regions. One or more of the bodies may be configured to articulate so as to conform to movement of a body tissue structure. A skeletal component may or may not extend through one or more of the plurality of bodies.
Prosthetic valve with appendages
An implant includes a prosthetic valve and is transitionable from a compressed to an expanded state. The implant includes a frame assembly including a plurality of struts that collectively define an upstream-frame-assembly-perimeter at an upstream end of the frame assembly and a downstream-frame-assembly-perimeter at a downstream end of the frame assembly. The frame assembly includes a valve frame that defines a lumen, and one or more appendages disposed at and extending in a downstream direction from the downstream-frame-assembly-perimeter. A plurality of prosthetic leaflets are disposed within the valve frame lumen and facilitate one-way upstream-to-downstream fluid flow through the lumen. The implant includes a fabric and, in the expanded state of the implant, the fabric obscures the one or more appendages and defines a downstream perimeter of the fabric at a downstream end of the implant. Additional embodiments are described.
DUAL-FUNCTION ANCHOR SYSTEM
The present invention provides a surgical anchor comprising a screw and a coil; said coil having a conical shape, wound around the screw shaft with the first end of the coil being tapered and having a ring circumference smaller than that of the screw head and being engaged to the bottom of the screw head and the second end of the coil being flared with a larger ring circumference and positioned along the screw shaft.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR COUPLING A PROSTHETIC IMPLANT TO A FENESTRATED BODY
Devices, systems, and methods for implanting a patient-specific prosthesis at a treatment site in a patient are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a patient-specific prosthesis includes a tubular graft and a coupling member. A fenestration can be disposed in the tubular graft, the fenestration corresponding to a predicted branch blood vessel location. The coupling member can be disposed about the fenestration. The coupling member can include a coil configured to expand from a first configuration to a second configuration in response to the application of an expanding force. The coil can be configured to contract to a third configuration upon removal of the expanding force.
EXPANDABLE TUBE FOR DEPLOYMENT WITHIN A BLOOD VESSEL
There is provided an expandable tube for deployment within a blood vessel, the expandable tube being reversibly switchable from a radially contracted and longitudinally expanded state to a radially expanded and longitudinally contracted state, the expandable tube comprising a first frame comprising braided filament, and a second frame connected to the first frame and overlapping with the first frame in the radial direction, the second frame comprising a network of non-overlapping elements, the non-overlapping elements being non-overlapping with respect to each other in the radial direction, wherein the network of non-overlapping elements has an interconnected structure comprising a plurality of sub-units that repeat in the longitudinal direction.
Corneal implants
Reversibly deformable corneal implants for replacing excised corneal tissue, the implants including an optical portion and an anchoring portion having different mechanical properties from each other.
