IMPLANTABLE VEIN FRAME
20220378576 · 2022-12-01 ·

An implantable vein frame is contemplated in which two ring members are rigidly joined in spaced axial alignment via one or more interconnecting members. One of the one or more interconnecting members defines a protruding region that acts upon the implant placed within the frame and/or the vein that the vein frame is placed within to define a sinus region. The implant is placed within and scaffolded by the vein frame, and the vein frame is subsequently inserted within a vein via a venotomy, or interposed between two vein segments via vein interposition graft. The vein frame acts to support the structural integrity of the implant, and to scaffold and anchor the implant in place with the vein.

Prosthetic heart valves

Some embodiments described herein include a heart valve replacement system that may be delivered to a targeted native heart valve site via one or more delivery catheters. In some embodiments, a prosthetic heart valve of the system includes structural features that securely anchor the prosthetic heart valve to the site of the native heart valve. Such structural features can provide robust migration resistance. In particular implementations, the prosthetic heart valves occupy a smaller delivery profile, thereby facilitating a smaller delivery catheter for advancement to the heart.

A TYMPANOSTOMY TUBE

A fluidic bridging tube (1), for bridging membranes in the human or animal body allowing the passage of fluid, has a proximal flange (2), an inter lumen connector (3) with a lumen (5) and a distal flange (4). The tube comprises a metal skeleton or scaffold structure (51) and a surrounding polymer which is softer than the scaffold structure. The scaffold structure (51) has a tubular mesh providing structural strength to the inter lumen connector. The tubular mesh has members (61) defining substantial rectangular mesh apertures, and distal crowns (64). At its proximal end the scaffold structure comprises spines (68) extending from a proximal tubular mesh rim (63). The spines provide structural strength to the proximal flange (2). In the preferred embodiment the tube is a tympanostomy tube. A method of manufacturing the tube comprises providing the scaffold structure and over-moulding the outer material to form the shape of the proximal flange, the inter lumen connector with a lumen, and the distal flange.

ENHANCED FLEXIBILITY ANNULOPLASTY BANDS
20220370200 · 2022-11-24 ·

An annuloplasty band having a differentiation in area moment of inertia, where the area moment of inertia in the out of plane direction is much less than the area moment of inertia in the plane of the annulus. This makes the band stiff enough to hold the annulus in the correct shape while being flexible enough out of plane to minimize the risk of suture dehiscence or breakage. One example is a C-shaped band with a core formed of nitinol and having a constant cross-section with a wider radial dimension than an axial dimension. The cross-section may be rectangular. The band is asymmetric across a minor axis with one end extending around the anterior side farther than the other. The free ends rise up from adjacent lateral sides, and a continuous posterior mid-section also rises upward.

Patient-Specific Breast Implant for Breast Reconstruction after Breast-Conserving Mastectomy
20220370183 · 2022-11-24 ·

The present invention relates to a patient-specific breast implant. More particularly, the present invention relates to a patient-specific breast implant which, when a breast-conserving surgery (BCS, also called lumpectomy or partial mastectomy) is performed to remove breast cancer while leaving as much normal breast tissue as possible, prevents deformation of breast that may occur due to the depression of breast skin or adhesions of remaining breast tissues after the BCS, shortens surgery time, and facilitates securing breast symmetry, thereby ultimately dramatically increasing the success rate of surgery and maximizing patient satisfaction.

SELF EXPANDING STENT AND METHOD OF LOADING SAME INTO A CATHETER
20220370215 · 2022-11-24 ·

A stent comprises a framework that includes a sequence of cells that each occupy a discrete segment of the stent length, and each of the cells includes a plurality of struts with ends connected at respective vertices. An adjacent pair of the cells are attached to one another by a plurality of T-bars that each include a column defining a long axis that extends parallel to the stent axis, and a top bar attached to one end of the column. An opposite end of the column is attached to a first cell, and the top bar is attached at opposite ends to a second cell of the adjacent pair of cells. The column has a minimum width perpendicular to the long axis that is wider than a maximum width of each of the struts, and the column defines at least one slot. The top bar includes a curved edge on an opposite side from the column, and the curved edge straddles the long axis.

Collapsible and re-expandable prosthetic heart valve cuff designs and complementary technological applications

A prosthetic heart valve is provided with a cuff having features which promote sealing with the native tissues even where the native tissues are irregular. The cuff may include a portion adapted to bear on the LVOT when the valve is implanted in a native aortic valve. The valve may include elements for biasing the cuff outwardly with respect to the stent body when the stent body is in an expanded condition. The cuff may have portions of different thickness distributed around the circumference of the valve in a pattern matching the shape of the opening defined by the native tissue. All or part of the cuff may be movable relative to the stent during implantation.

Systems and methods for mitral valve repair having a docking station and a valve implant. The docking station is an anchoring device having a helix structure. The valve implant is made of an expandable frame and a valve, and is radially expandable to a diameter that is at least the same as an expanded diameter of the anchoring device. The method of delivering the docking station and valve implant is performed by inserting the components through device delivery catheters.

A delivery system for an interventional device includes an elongate catheter body, a catheter shaft extending within the elongate catheter body and configured to releasably attach to the interventional device, and at least one flexible element attached to a distal portion of the catheter shaft. The at least one flexible element has an expanded configuration in which the at least one flexible element extends beyond an outer circumference of the elongate catheter body and a collapsed configuration in which the at least one flexible element collapses within an inner circumference of the elongate catheter body. The at least one flexible element is configured to act as a tactile stop when pulled proximally against the elongate catheter body and/or to fold over the interventional device to act as a retraction aid.
