According to at least one aspect, the invention provides a filter assembly (100) comprising a tubular housing and a filter device (70) locatable to extend longitudinally within the housing. The filter device (70) comprises a lattice structure of crossing internal and external elongated elements (18, 20). The lattice structure comprises an arrangement of pores (22), and the external elongated elements (20) are presented outwardly of the filter device (70) with respect to the plane of the pores, thereby to provide ribs on the exterior of the lattice which define a shaped channel that will act as a first level filter for larger particles. The external elongated elements are shaped and arranged to provide one or more additional filter levels for smaller particles in advance of said pores, through which yet even smaller particles may pass.

Solid-liquid separation processes using a large pore filter

Solid/liquid separation processes using a large pore filter. One aspect of the disclosure is a process comprising filtering a solid/liquid mixture of a collection of solid aromatic carboxylic acid particles in a solvent in a first zone of a rotary pressure filter apparatus to form a filter cake on a filter surface, and removing the filter cake from the filter surface.

A method for the purification of a bisphenol A dianhydride composition includes contacting the bisphenol A dianhydride composition with a halogenated solvent to form a solution, and one or more of filtering the solution to remove ionic species; washing the solution with aqueous media to remove ionic species; crystallizing bisphenol A dianhydride from the solution to remove ionic species; and contacting the solution with an adsorbent to remove ionic species. A purified bisphenol A dianhydride composition is also described. The bisphenol A dianhydride composition can be used in the preparation of a poly(etherimide), and poly (etherimides) made from the bisphenol A dianhydride composition can be useful for forming a variety of articles.

Three-dimensional shaping apparatus and nozzle unit

A three-dimensional shaping apparatus includes a melted material generator, a nozzle, a flow passage, a filter chamber, and a filter. The melted material generator generates a melted shaping material. The nozzle discharges the shaping material from the melted material generator. The shaping material is guided to the nozzle through the flow passage. The filter chamber is provided between the flow passage and the nozzle. The filter is disposed in the filter chamber and has pores through which the shaping material passes. A filter chamber cross-sectional area is larger than a flow passage cross-sectional area, and a filter cross-sectional area is larger than the flow passage cross-sectional area. The filter chamber cross-sectional area and filter cross-sectional area are perpendicular to a direction from the flow passage toward the nozzle, and the flow passage cross-sectional area is perpendicular to a flowing direction of the shaping material in the flow passage.

Method and apparatuses for screening

Methods and apparatuses for screening are provided. Embodiments include a screen basket apparatus for screening material, comprising a grid frame having a plurality of openings arranged in a lattice and a plurality of screening cartridge assemblies affixed to the grid frame to cover the respective openings of the grid frame. The screening cartridge assembly includes a case and a screen assembly fitted into the case, and may be affixed to a set of transversal member of the grid frame. The case may be an injection molded thermoplastic polyurethane or a thermoset polymer. The screening elements together form a generally continuous screening surface across an exterior portion of the grid frame.
