A METHOD AND AN APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING CHLORINE GAS FROM A GASEOUS ANODE OUTLET STREAM OF AN ELECTROCHEMICAL REACTOR
The invention relates to a method for separating chlorine from a gaseous anode outlet stream mass flow of an electrochemical cell reactor. In a first aspect, the method makes use of an absorption step, wherein an anode outlet stream mass flow of the electrochemical cell reactor is exposed to an organic solvent being essentially immiscible with water for achieving an exergy-efficient separation of chlorine and hydrogen chloride. In a further aspect, the method makes use of absorption step, wherein the anode outlet stream mass flow is exposed to an ionic liquid, wherein the hydrogen chloride is dissolved in said ionic liquid, thereby forming a gas flow containing essentially chlorine and a solution mass flow comprising the ionic liquid and the hydrogen chloride. The hydrogen chloride is desorbed from the solution mass flow in a desorption step. In another aspect, the method makes use of a distillation step, wherein the anode outlet stream mass flow is separated at a static pressure of at least 2 bar for an exergy-efficient separation.

A humidity control device includes: a storage unit that stores hygroscopic liquid that contains a hygroscopic substance; a vent that is provided in the storage unit; absorption means by which air and the hygroscopic liquid are brought into contact with each other and moisture contained in the air is absorbed by the hygroscopic liquid; an ultrasonic wave generation unit that irradiates at least a part of the hygroscopic liquid, which has absorbed the moisture, with an ultrasonic wave; and removal means by which an atomized droplet that is generated is removed from the hygroscopic liquid that has absorbed the moisture, in which the storage unit suppresses an outflow of a coarse droplet whose particle size is larger than that of the atomized droplet.
PROTON COUPLED ELECTROCHEMICAL CO2 CAPTURE SYSTEM
The invention provides an electrochemical CO.sub.2 capture device and methods employing proton-coupled redox active species, e.g., a quinone, phenazine, alloxazine, isoalloxazine, or polyoxometalate, whose protonation and deprotonation can be controlled electrochemically to modify the pH of an aqueous solution or aqueous suspension. This change in pH can be used to sequester and release CO.sub.2. The CO.sub.2 capture device can be used to sequester gaseous CO.sub.2 from a point source, such as flue gas, or from ambient air.
STORAGE MEDIUM AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING, STORING AND TRANSPORTING CHLORINE FROM CHLORINE-CONTAINING GASES
The invention relates to a storage medium and to a method for using a storage medium based on ionic compounds, which can reversibly absorb and store chlorine and chlorine from process gases, and which can release the same again by changing the ambient conditions, wherein the storage medium can be reused for this task after discharge.
Cleaning device for gas flows from isocyanate production
The invention relates to a cleaning device for separating an organic isocyanate produced by the reaction of an organic amine with a stoichiometric excess of phosgene in the gas phase from the gaseous raw product obtained in the reaction, said device comprising a first separating body comprising at least one raw product supply line for a gaseous raw product flow containing at least the isocyanate, hydrogen chloride and non-reacted phosgene, a first liquid supply line for a liquid flow containing at least one quench liquid, and a first liquid discharge line for a liquid flow containing at least part of the quench liquid and part of the isocyanate, a first gas line for transporting a gas flow containing at least hydrogen chloride, evaporated quench liquid and phosgene leading away from the first separating body. The invention is characterized in that at least one addition body for directly introducing at least one cooling fluid for an at least partial condensation and/or absorption of the gas flow that can be guided via the first gas line is associated with the first gas line.
CARBON DIOXIDE ABSORBENT AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING OUT CARBON DIOXIDE BY USING SAME
Disclosed is a carbon dioxide absorbent and a carbon dioxide separation method using the same that greatly reduces energy consumption due to a small amount of latent heat required in regeneration of absorbents, enhances CO.sub.2 absorption rate, undergoes almost no thermal denaturation even at high temperatures while absorbing carbon dioxide, and results in a considerable reduction of the cost associated with absorption of carbon dioxide.
