REMOVAL OF OXYGEN FROM HYDROCARBON-CONTAINING GAS MIXTURES

The invention relates to a method for removing oxygen from hydrocarbon-containing gas mixtures, characterized in that a hydrocarbon-containing gas mixture containing 50 vol % of one or more hydrocarbons, 2 to 10 vol % of oxygen, and possibly one or more gases from the group comprising nitrogen, noble gases, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and water is introduced into an isothermally operated reactor, in which the oxygen contained in the hydrocarbon-containing gas mixture is at least partially converted into carbon dioxide and water in the presence of one or more catalysts, wherein the specifications in vol % relate to the total volume of the hydrocarbon-containing gas mixture introduced into the reactor and add up to 100 vol % in total.

ZEOLITIC MATERIALS HAVING ENCAPSULATED BIMETALLIC CLUSTERS

Zeolites having highly dispersed bimetallic clusters, uniformly distributed in size and composition, encapsulated therein are disclosed. Metal encapsulation and alloying is conferred by introducing ligated metal cation precursors into zeolite synthesis gels, which are subsequently crystallized hydrothermally to form zeolites with metal cations occluded in the pores. The ligated cations are anchored to the zeolite framework via siloxane bridges which enforces their uniform dispersion throughout the zeolite crystals. Treatment of the crystallized zeolites in O.sub.2 and then H.sub.2 forms bimetallic clusters, which remain narrowly distributed in size and composition.

Method of manufacturing a catalyst comprising gold nanoparticles, the catalyst and its use

A method for the manufacture of a catalyst comprising substrate particles having gold nanoparticles thereon, the method comprising providing a first solution comprising gold nanoparticles; providing a second solution comprising substrate particles having polyelectrolyte on the surface thereof; and combining the solutions to form substrate particles having gold nanoparticles thereon. A catalyst comprising substrate particles having gold nanoparticles thereon, wherein the gold nanoparticles comprise capping agent comprising polyelectrolyte. A catalyst as a component of a cigarette filter, an air conditioning unit, an exhaust, or a diesel exhaust.

An exhaust system for a diesel engine is provided. The exhaust system includes a component body with a surface, and a surface treatment disposed on some of the surface or all of the surface. The surface treatment is disposed so as to receive Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injected into the exhaust system during operation of the diesel engine. The surface treatment facilitates increased heat transfer to the received DEF to promote water evaporation and urea thermolysis of the received DEF.

PROCESS FOR REMOVING NITROUS OXIDE FROM A GAS STREAM
20170246589 · 2017-08-31 ·

A process for the removal of nitrous oxide from a gas stream having a contaminating concentration of nitrous oxide to provide a gas stream with a significantly reduced concentration of nitrous oxide is described. The process includes the use of a process system having multiple N.sub.2O decomposition reactors each of which contain a nitrous oxide decomposition catalyst and heat transfer units each of which contain a heat sink media that are operatively connected in a particular order and arrangement for use in the process. The gas stream is passed to the process system that is operated for a period of time in a specific operating mode followed by the stopping of such operation and reversal of the process flow. These steps may be repeatedly taken in order to provide for an enhanced energy recovery efficiency for a given nitrous oxide destruction removal efficiency.
