Multifunctional filter medium, and method and apparatus for manufacturing same
The present application relates to a multifunctional filter medium and a method of manufacturing the same. The multifunctional filter medium of the present application is capable of significantly reducing fine dust, harmful microorganisms, and toxic gases and reducing a pressure decrease during filtration due to exclusion of high-density nanofiber, thereby minimizing energy required for filtration and exhibiting sufficient filtration performance as a single filter medium.
CATALYTIC COMBUSTION IN LOW TEMPERATURE, HUMID CONDITIONS
Methods are disclosed for achieving the catalytic combustion of a gaseous species in low temperature humid environments. The methods comprise the steps of obtaining a combustion catalyst composition comprising an amount of a precious metal supported on an ion-exchangeable alkali metal titanate substrate, and then exposing the species to the combustion catalyst composition in the presence of an oxygen containing gas and water vapour at a catalysis temperature below 200 C. and at a relative humidity above 0.5%. A novel desiccant-coupled catalytic combustion process and system are also disclosed.
N2O REMOVAL FROM AUTOMOTIVE EXHAUST FOR LEAN/RICH SYSTEMS
A nitrous oxide (N.sub.2O) removal catalyst composition for treating an exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine is provided, containing a platinum group metal (PGM) component on a metal oxide-based support, wherein the N.sub.2O removal catalyst composition is in a substantially reduced form, such that it has an oxygen deficiency of about 0.05 mmol oxygen atoms/g or greater, and wherein the N.sub.2O removal catalyst composition provides effective removal of at least a portion of N.sub.2O from the exhaust stream under lean conditions at a temperature of about 350 C. or lower. N.sub.2O removal catalytic articles, systems, and methods are also provided for removing at least a portion of N.sub.2O from an exhaust stream under lean, low temperature conditions.
APPARATUS FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS
An apparatus for purifying exhaust gas includes: an engine; an exhaust gas air-fuel ratio adjustor for adjusting an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas; a lean NO.sub.x trap (LNT) mounted on the exhaust pipe and generating ammonia or reducing nitrogen oxides or desorbed nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas using a reducing agent including carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, or hydrogen contained in the exhaust gas; a three way catalyst (TWC) mounted on the exhaust pipe at a rear end of the LNT, and converting noxious gas in the exhaust gas into harmless components through a redox reaction; and a controller controlling the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas to a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio when the nitrogen oxide storage or purification performance of the LNT is in the operating period of the engine less than a predetermined level.
Air-Filtering Anti-Bacterial Lighting Apparatus
An anti-bacterial lighting apparatus includes one translucent housing, at least one light source, and an air circulation mechanism. The translucent housing is air permeable, has as least one air inflow port, and has an anti-bacterial photocatalytic film on its inside surface. The at least one light source is inside the housing, and its light activates the anti-bacterial photocatalytic film on the housing. The air circulation mechanism, such as a fan, is at the air inflow port of the housing. It sucks the ambient air from outside the housing and forces the air through the air-permeable housing. The air-permeable housing traps airborne bacteria and viruses, and the activated anti-bacterial photocatalytic film kills the trapped bacteria and viruses. Moreover, the light shines through the translucent housing while the apparatus is filtering the air and killing the airborne bacteria and viruses.
Multicomponent solid solution microparticles and method for producing same, and catalyst
This invention provides a multinary solid solution fine particle represented by Pd.sub.xRu.sub.yM.sub.z (M is at least one member selected from the group consisting of Rh, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au and Ir. x+y+z=1, x+y=0.01 to 0.99, z=0.99 to 0.01, x:y=0.1:0.9 to 0.9:0.1), a method for producing the same, and a supported catalyst.
IProton sponge as supplement to electrolytes for photocatalytic and electrochemical Co2 reduction
The invention relates to a method for converting carbon dioxide and water, wherein the electrolyte comprises a proton sponge which serves to accumulate CO2 in the electrolyte. The invention further relates to a corresponding use of a proton sponge and to an electrolyte comprising at least one proton sponge.
MINERAL ENTRAINED PLASTIC FORMULATIONS AS PUNCTURING ELEMENTS
Puncture elements and methods for using the same are disclosed. The puncture elements according to the disclosed concept include a cutting edge or a sharp and are composed of a mineral loaded polymer. The minerals of the mineral loaded polymer include an active agent, such as a desiccant. Optionally, the puncture elements are used to puncture a cover (e.g., foil seal) of a package.
