CATALYST FOR REDUCTION OF NITROGEN OXIDES
The invention relates to a nitrogen oxide storage catalyst composed of at least two catalytically active washcoat layers on a support body, wherein a lower washcoat layer A comprises cerium oxide, an alkaline earth metal compound and/or an alkali compound, platinum and palladium, and an upper washcoat layer B located above washcoat layer A comprises cerium oxide, platinum and palladium, does not contain any alkali and alkaline-earth compounds, and has macropores. Also disclosed is a method for converting NOx in exhaust gases from motor vehicles operated with lean-burn engines.
NOx trap
A NO.sub.x trap catalyst is disclosed. The NO.sub.x trap catalyst comprises a noble metal, a NO.sub.x storage component, a support, and a first ceria-containing material. The first ceria-containing material is pre-aged prior to incorporation into the NOx trap catalyst, and may have a surface area of less than 80 m.sup.2/g. The invention also includes exhaust systems comprising the NO.sub.x trap catalyst, and a method for treating exhaust gas utilizing the NO.sub.x trap catalyst.
Copper Containing MOZ Zeolite for Selective NOx Reduction Catalysis
The present invention relates to crystalline aluminosilicate comprising a MOZ framework type material. The MOZ framework type material comprises between 0.1 and 12.5 wt-% of copper, calculated as CuO, and one or more alkali and alkaline earth metal cations in an amount of 0.3 to 9 wt.-%, calculated as pure metals. The process for making the copper containing MOZ type zeolites comprises a) preparing a first aqueous reaction mixture comprising a silica source and potassium hydroxide, b) preparing a second reaction mixture comprising an alumina source, potassium hydroxide and a structure-directing agent selected from N,N-1,4-dimethyl-1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2] octane difluoride, dichloride, dibromide, diiodide or dihydroxide, c) combining the two aqueous reaction mixtures, d) aging the combined reaction mixtures, e) heating the combined reaction mixtures, e) recovering, washing and drying the zeolite obtained thereof, g) calcining the zeolite, f) introducing copper, and i) washing and drying the copper containing MOZ type zeolite. Furthermore, the present invention discloses a washcoat comprising the copper containing MOZ framework type material, an SCR catalyst comprising said copper containing MOZ framework type material, and an exhaust gas purification system containing said SCR catalyst.

Methods for the manufacture of a sorbent composition having a catalyst component
A sorbent composition that is useful for injection into a flue gas stream of a coal burning furnace to efficiently remove mercury from the flue gas stream. The sorbent composition may include a sorbent with an associated ancillary catalyst component that is a catalytic metal, a precursor to a catalytic metal, a catalytic metal compound or a precursor to a catalytic metal compound. Alternatively, a catalytic metal or metal compound, or their precursors, may be admixed with the coal feedstock prior to or during combustion in the furnace, or may be independently injected into a flue gas stream. A catalytic promoter may also be used to enhance the performance of the catalytic metal or metal compound.
Catalytically enhanced compositions for efficient removal of contaminants in flue gas streams
A sorbent composition that is useful for injection into a flue gas stream of a coal burning furnace to efficiently remove mercury from the flue gas stream. The sorbent composition may include a sorbent with an associated ancillary catalyst component that is a catalytic metal, a precursor to a catalytic metal, a catalytic metal compound or a precursor to a catalytic metal compound. Alternatively, a catalytic metal or metal compound, or their precursors, may be admixed with the coal feedstock prior to or during combustion in the furnace, or may be independently injected into a flue gas stream. A catalytic promoter may also be used to enhance the performance of the catalytic metal or metal compound.
Catalyst system for reducing nitrogen oxides
The invention relates to a catalyst system for reducing nitrogen oxides, which comprises a nitrogen oxide storage catalyst and an SCR catalyst, wherein the nitrogen oxide storage catalyst consists of at least two catalytically active washcoat layers on a supporting body, wherein a lower washcoat layer A contains cerium oxide, an alkaline earth compound and/or alkali compound, as well as platinum and palladium, and an upper washcoat layer B, which is arranged over the washcoat layer A, contains cerium oxide, platinum and palladium, and no alkali compound and no alkaline earth compound. The invention also relates to a method for converting NOx in exhaust gases of motor vehicles that are operated by means of engines that are operated in a lean manner.
Process for removing and recovering H2S from a gas stream by cyclic adsorption
A process for altering the composition of a feed gas containing H.sub.2S equivalents is disclosed. The process comprises (a) contacting the feed gas with a solid adsorbent at a temperature of 250-500 C., to obtain a loaded adsorbent, (b) purging the loaded adsorbent with a purge gas comprising steam, thus producing a product stream which typically contains substantially equal levels of CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2S. The process further comprises a step (c) of regenerating the purged adsorbent by removal of water. The adsorbent comprises alumina and one or more alkali metals, such as potassium oxides, hydroxide or the like.

The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising a support body A having a length L.sub.A designed as a flow substrate, a support body B of length L.sub.B designed as a wall-flow filter, and material zones A1, A2, B1, and B2, wherein the support body A comprises material zones A1 and A2 and the support body B comprises material zones B1 and B2, wherein material zone A1 contains a cerium oxide, an alkaline earth metal compound and/or an alkali metal compound, and also platinum and/or palladium, and material zone A2 contains cerium oxide, and also platinum and/or palladium, and is free of alkali metal and alkaline earth metal compounds, material zone B1 contains palladium supported on cerium oxide, and material zone B2 contains platinum supported on a support material.
ZEOLITE CATALYST CONTAINING METALS
Provided is catalyst material useful for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx in lean burn exhaust gas, wherein the catalyst material is a hydrothermally stable, low SAR aluminosilicate zeolite loaded with a synergistic combination of one or more transition metals, such as copper, and one or more alkali or alkaline earth metals, such as calcium or potassium.
