System and method for facet joint replacement
A system for replacing at least a portion of a natural facet joint includes a fixation member implantable in a vertebra, an inferior facet articular surface and an inferior strut which may be formed separately from the inferior articular surface. The inferior strut has a first end securable to the fixation member and a second end which may comprise a sphere with a hemispherical surface. An attachment mechanism may include a capture feature shaped to receive the second end of the inferior strut, and the mechanism may provide an adjustable configuration, allowing polyaxial adjustment between the inferior articular surface and the second end. A locking member may be actuated to exert force on the second end to provide a locked configuration. The system may further include a superior facet joint implant with a superior articular surface shaped to articulate with the inferior articular surface.
EXCHANGEABLE OPTICS AND THERAPEUTICS
An exchangeable optics system includes an intraocular base that can be fixed within an eye. The intraocular base includes one or more couplers and a supporting structure. The one or more couplers releasably couple to an exchangeable optic and can include magnetic material. The supporting structure can include haptics and a main structure that physically supports the exchangeable optic. The intraocular base can include a fixed lens within or on the main structure. The exchangeable optic can include corresponding one or more couplers, which may be formed of magnetic material.
SURGICAL IMPLANT DEVICES AND METHODS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE AND USE
An assembly includes an implant body and a delivery apparatus. The implant body includes a lattice structure, an adjustment member, and a control device. The lattice structure is circumferentially expandable and contractible. The adjustment member and the control device are coupled to the lattice structure. Actuating the adjustment member results in circumferential expansion or contraction of the lattice structure. The delivery apparatus includes a rotatable adjustment tool and a locking mechanism comprising a controllable catch coupled to an end portion of the rotatable adjustment tool. The rotatable adjustment tool is configured to actuate the adjustment member of the implant body upon rotation of the rotatable adjustment tool. The controllable catch of the locking mechanism is configured to selectively couple the rotatable adjustment tool to the adjustment member of the implant body.
INTRAOCULAR RING SYSTEM
A support system for an intraocular lens (IOL) comprising a primary intraocular ring (PIR) mountable to an eye and a secondary device (SD), the SD in communication with the PIR and movable relative to the PIR. The movement can be one or more of rotation, forward-backward movement, decentralization, tilt and angulation. The IOL can be controllably and non-invasively moved relative to the PIR, with the movement being one or more of rotation, forward-backward movement, decentralization, tilt and angulation.
SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR FILLING ACCOMMODATING INTRAOCULAR LENSES WITH LIQUID
A filling apparatus for filling a lens device with a volume of optical liquid including a dispensing system, a venting system having a vacuum pump and a vacuum chamber, a measurement system, and a lens device holding system. The dispensing system includes a source of optical liquid, a positive displacement pump, and a filling needle having a lumen in fluid communication with the source of optical liquid. The filling needle is configured to penetrate an injection zone of the lens device for filling an internal chamber of the lens device. The measurement system is configured to measure a lens zone of the lens device. The lens device holding system includes a lens fixture for maintaining a position of the lens device relative to the filling needle and the measurement system. Related systems, devices, and methods are provided.
Smart earmuff and method for improved use of an earmuff
An acoustic earmuff device comprising a pair of earmuff cup assemblies such that each is configured to be arranged at a location proximate to an ear of an user, wherein each earmuff cup assembly comprises means (320) for adapting a pressure applied to the location proximate to the ear so that the pressure around the ear is evenly distributed and a even seal is achieved, wherein the means for adapting a pressure comprises an adaptive layer (324) that is configured to apply the pressure around the ear evenly regardless whether that location comprises any protruding element (2).
Tissue expanders having integrated drainage and moveable barrier membranes
A tissue expander having an integrated drain includes a shell having an opening and one or more drainage holes, and an injection port disposed in the opening of the shell and forming a fluid-tight seal with the shell. The injection port includes a needle guard having a needle guard base with a top surface. The injection port includes a moveable barrier membrane overlying the top surface of the needle guard base. The moveable barrier membrane is moveable between a first position for inflating and deflating the shell with a first fluid and a second position for draining a second fluid from outside the shell. A magnet is coupled with the moveable barrier membrane, and a compressible spring is connected with the magnet. The compressible spring is compressed for storing energy as the moveable barrier membrane moves from the first position to the second position.
Adjustable glaucoma treatment devices and associated systems and methods
The present technology is directed to implantable medical devices for draining fluid from a first body region to a second body region. Some embodiments of the present technology provide adjustable devices that are selectively titratable to provide various levels of therapy. For example, the adjustable devices can have a drainage element with a lumen extending therethrough, a flow control element, and an actuation assembly. The actuation assembly can drive movement of the flow control element to change a dimension of and/or a flow resistance through the lumen, thereby increasing or decreasing the relative drainage rate of aqueous from an eye. In some embodiments, the actuation assembly and the flow control element together operate as a ratchet mechanism that can selectively move the flow control element between a plurality of positions and lock the device in a desired configuration until further actuation of the actuation assembly.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING REFLUX DISEASE (GERD) AND OBESITY
An obesity treatment apparatus comprises at least one operable stretching device implantable in an obese patient and adapted to stretch a portion of the patient's stomach wall, and an operation device for operating the stretching device when implanted to stretch the stomach wall portion such that satiety is created.
Variable sling for urinary continence
An apparatus for treating urinary incontinence in a patient includes at least one adjustable lifting device for supporting a patient's urethra to restore urinary control. The adjustable lifting device can post-operatively and non-invasively adjust the level of lift of a patient's urethra, to thereby affect the patient's incontinence. The adjustable lifting device is placed above the pubis bone of the patient. The device includes first and second fixation devices that are adjustable to thereby adjust the length of a sling that cradles and lift's the patient's urethra. The apparatus could also be used to treat anal incontinence.
