Oxygen storage material and method for producing the same
An oxygen storage material including a ceria-zirconia based composite oxide containing a composite oxide of ceria and zirconia, wherein the ceria-zirconia based composite oxide comprises at least one rare-earth element selected from the group consisting of lanthanum, yttrium, and neodymium, and an amount of the rare-earth element(s) contained in total is 1 to 10% by atom in terms of element relative to a total amount of cerium and zirconium in the ceria-zirconia based composite oxide, 60 to 85% by atom of the entire amount of the rare-earth element(s) is contained in a near-surface upper-layer region extending from a surface of each primary particle of the ceria-zirconia based composite oxide to a depth of 50 nm in the primary particle, and 15 to 40% by atom of the entire amount of the rare-earth element(s) is contained in a near-surface lower-layer region extending from a depth of 50 nm to a depth of 100 nm in the primary particle, a content ratio of cerium and zirconium in the ceria-zirconia based composite oxide is in a range of 40:60 to 60:40 in terms of an atomic ratio ([Ce]:[Zr]), and the ceria-zirconia based composite oxide has an intensity ratio {I(14/29) value} between a diffraction line at 2θ=14.5° and a diffraction line at 2θ=29° which satisfies the following condition:
I(14/29) value≥0.032,
where the intensity ratio {I(14/29) value} is determined from an X-ray diffraction pattern using CuKα obtained by an X-ray diffraction measurement conducted after heating in air under a temperature condition of 1100° C. for 5 hours.
Catalytically active particulate filter
The present invention relates to a particulate filter which comprises a wall flow filter of length L and two different catalytically active coatings Y and Z, wherein the wall flow filter comprises channels E and A that extend in parallel between a first and a second end of the wall flow filter and are separated by porous walls which form the surfaces O.sub.E and O.sub.A, respectively, and wherein the channels E are closed at the second end and the channels A are closed at the first end. The invention is characterized in that the coating Y is located in the channels E on the surfaces O.sub.E and the coating Z is located in the channels A on the surfaces O.sub.A.

The present disclosure provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst improved in OSC performance while maintaining an exhaust gas purification performance, which comprises a substrate and at least one catalyst layer formed on the substrate, wherein an uppermost catalyst layer contains a catalyst metal, a first OSC material having a pyrochlore structure, and a second OSC material having a higher oxygen storage/release rate than the first OSC material, wherein the uppermost catalyst layer consists of an upstream catalyst layer and a downstream catalyst layer, and wherein a proportion of a mass of the second OSC material based on a total mass of the first OSC material and the second OSC material is in a specific range in each of the upstream catalyst layer and the downstream catalyst layer.
Exhaust gas purification system for a gasoline engine
Subject of the invention is an exhaust gas purification system for a gasoline engine, comprising in consecutive order the following devices: a first three-way-catalyst (TWC1), a gasoline particulate filter (GPF) and a second three-way-catalyst (TWC2), wherein the oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of the TWC2 is greater than the OSC of the GPF, wherein the OSC is determined in mg/l of the volume of the device. The invention also relates to methods in which the system is used and uses of the system.
Mixed oxide catalyst for oxygen storage applications and a method for making the catalyst
Catalyst material composed of a sodium incorporated cerium-zirconium based mixed oxide catalyst material, such as Ce—Zr/Al.sub.2O.sub.3, for oxygen storage capacity applications. The sodium incorporated cerium-zirconium based mixed oxide catalyst material is synthesized by co-precipitation techniques using sodium carbonate as the precipitating agent and exhibits a high oxygen storage capacity.
A CATALYST ARTICLE FOR CAPTURING PARTICULATE MATTER
The present invention relates to a catalyst washcoat composition comprising a slurry comprising at least one platinum group metal and/or at least one non-platinum group metal supported on at least one support; and at least one pore forming agent having a particle size ranging from 100 nm to 5.0 μm, wherein the pore forming agent is selected from carbon nano-tubes, carbon nano-fibres, activated carbon, resins, cellulose powder, and polymer spheres. The present invention also provides a catalyst article for capturing particulate matter of size ranging from 1.0 nm to 100 μm, said article comprising the catalyst washcoat deposited on a substrate and calcined to form pores of which 50%-100% have a pore size ranging from 100 nm to 5.0 μm.
ELECTRICALLY HEATING CONVERTER AND PRODUCTION METHOD FOR ELECTRICALLY HEATING CONVERTER
An electrically heating converter includes: a pillar shaped honeycomb structure made of conductive ceramics, including: an outer peripheral wall; and a partition wall disposed on an inner side of the outer peripheral wall, the partition wall defining a plurality of cells, each of the cells penetrating from one end face to other end face to form a flow path; metal electrodes; a pressing member configured to press each of the metal electrodes against the pillar shaped honeycomb structure, so that the pillar shaped honeycomb structure is electrically connected to each of the metal electrodes; and an antioxidant material of (i) or (ii) below: (i) an antioxidant material provided between the pillar shaped honeycomb structure and each of the metal electrodes, or (ii) an antioxidant material provided from a surface of the pillar shaped honeycomb structure over an outer surface of each of the metal electrodes.
Exhaust gas purification catalyst
An exhaust gas purification catalyst including particles of a catalyst metal supported on secondary particles of an inorganic oxide, wherein when scanning transmission electron microscope-energy dispersive X-ray line analysis is performed from a surface of the secondary particles toward a center thereof, a support density of the catalyst metal on a surface side of the secondary particles is greater than the support density of the catalyst metal in a center part of the secondary particles.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION CATALYST
A substrate (11) of an exhaust gas purification catalyst (10) includes inflow-side cells (21), outflow-side cells (22), and porous partition walls (23), each separating the inflow-side cell and the outflow-side cell. Catalyst portions (14, 15) are provided on the surfaces of the partition walls that each face the inflow-side cell and/or the surfaces of the partition walls that each face the outflow-side cell. In a cross section vertical to an exhaust gas flow direction, the percentage of the total area of voids, each void satisfying the expression L/{2(πS).sup.1/2}≤1.1 (wherein L is the perimeter of the void in the cross section, and S is the area of the void in the cross section), is greater than 10% to 30% or less based on the apparent area of the catalyst portion present on the partition wall. The content of zirconium element in terms of oxide (amount of ZrO2) in the catalyst portions is from 35 mass % to 85 mass %.
