CATALYZED PARTICULATE FILTER
Disclosed herein is a particulate filter, in particular a catalyzed particulate filter, for use in an emission treatment system of an internal combustion engine. Provided are catalyzed particulate filters, emission treatment systems with catalyzed particulate filters, methods for manufacturing catalyzed particulate filters, and methods for controlling emissions in exhaust gas from internal combustion engines with catalyzed particulate filters.
Mixed oxide with enhanced resistance and NOx storage capacity
The present invention relates to a mixed oxide with enhanced resistance and NO.sub.x storage capacity. The mixed oxide may be used as a component of a NO.sub.x trap material in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. The invention also relates to a method for treating an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine using the mixed oxide.
Low temperature nitrogen oxide adsorber
The present invention relates to a composite metal oxide which comprises 80 to 97 wt %, in relation to the weight of the composite metal oxide, of one or more oxides of cerium and 3 to 20 wt %, in relation to the composite metal oxide of a metal oxide comprising tin oxide (SnO.sub.2) and lanthanum oxide (La.sub.2O.sub.3) and/or aluminum oxide (Al.sub.2O.sub.3), a composite material for the storage of nitrogen oxides which comprises such composite metal oxide and palladium, as well as an exhaust gas system containing said composite material.
NOx STORAGE MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a NOx storage material comprising a cerium-based mixed oxide comprising cerium, oxygen, and a first rare earth metal other than cerium, wherein said NOx storage material further comprises a second rare earth metal other than cerium; wherein said first rare earth metal is different to said second rare earth metal; and wherein said second rare earth metal is disposed or supported on the surface of the cerium-based mixed oxide.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPERATING PASSIVE NITROGEN OXIDE ADSORBERS IN EXHAUST AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEMS
A system includes a catalyst for receiving and treating exhaust gas generated by an engine, a passive NOx adsorber (PNA) positioned upstream of the catalyst, a bypass valve positioned upstream of the catalyst and the PNA, and a controller. The controller is configured to, determine that the catalyst is operating under cold start conditions, control the bypass valve to direct exhaust gas to the PNA, determine that the catalyst is no longer operating under cold start conditions and continue to control the bypass valve to direct exhaust gas to the PNA for a predetermined duration, and after the elapse of the predetermined duration, control the bypass valve to direct exhaust gas to the catalyst bypassing the PNA. The controller is also configured to detect a high transient torque demand while the exhaust gas is provided to the PNA, and split the torque demand between the engine and an electric motor.
