The present invention provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst having an excellent purification performance for purifying chemically stable methane. A catalyst material 30 includes a carrier 32 formed of alumina and a catalyst 34 formed of at least one of palladium and a palladium oxide directly supported on the carrier 32. A specific surface area of the carrier 32 is preferably 20 m.sup.2/g or more 90 m.sup.2/g or less. In one preferred aspect, a proportion of Pd(100) and PdO(101) in crystal planes of the catalyst 34 at a joint surface between the catalyst 34 and the carrier 32 is 20 number % or more.

A method comprising treating combustion exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides in the presence of a denitration catalyst to remove nitrogen oxides from the combustion exhaust gas, wherein the denitration catalyst is composed of a shaped product comprising a catalyst component, the shaped product has micro cracks in a mesh pattern or a bipectinate pattern on the surface of the shaped product, and the micro cracks have a 95% crack width of 100 μm or less and a crack area ratio variation coefficient of 0.7 or less.

A particulate filter having a porous ceramic honeycomb structure with a first end, a second end, and a plurality of walls having wall surfaces defining a plurality of inner channels. Filtration material deposits are disposed on one or more of the wall surfaces of the honeycomb body. The highly porous deposits provide durable high clean filtration efficiency with small impact on pressure drop through the filter.

Also provided are a process for its preparation, and a use in a method for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx.

The catalyst article comprises a substrate which is a wall-flow filter, a first catalyst composition, and a second catalyst composition. The first and second catalyst compositions each independently comprise an oxygen storage component (OSC) derived from a CeZr mixed oxide sol having a D90 of less than 1.3 micron and a particulate inorganic oxide having a D90 of from 1 to 20 microns.

Described is related to nano-structured composite materials for removing harmful chemical air pollutants and odors from the air to prevent people from breathing in disease-causing chemicals and provide them with clean indoor air. The nano-structured composite materials comprise nano-catalysts embedded in the pores of nano-structured substrate materials selected from the group consisting of nano-porous carbon, nano-porous rare earth oxide, nano-porous zeolite, nano-porous alumina and nano-porous silica. The nano-scale synergy of nano-catalysts and nano-structured substrate materials provides effective air filtration materials for the complete trapping and elimination of the full spectrum of chemical air pollutants including both organic and inorganic compounds and odors for indoor spaces, which HEPA or activated carbon filters cannot achieve.

MONOLITHIC COMPOSITE PHOTOCATALYSTS

Monolithic composite photocatalysts for fluid purification are disclosed. The monolithic composite photocatalysts comprise a photoactive nanocrystal component and a non-photoactive porous support. Photocatalytic fluid purification systems that contact an impurity-containing fluid with the subject monolithic composite photocatalysts are also disclosed. The monolithic composite photocatalysts may be affixed to or embedded in scaffold structures to promote fluid flow through a fluid purification system and contact with the monolithic composite photocatalysts.
