A module having polymeric gas-separation membranes is capable of operation in extreme temperature environments. In one embodiment, the module includes polymeric fiber membranes, a tubesheet for holding the membranes, and a sleeve encasing the membranes, all of which are made of materials having coefficients of thermal expansion which differ from each other by not more than about 10%. In another embodiment, the membranes, the tubesheet, and the sleeve are all made of materials having a glass transition temperature greater than a highest anticipated temperature of operation of the module. In another embodiment, the module includes a head, and a clamshell having multiple protrusions which engage corresponding grooves in the head and in at least two grooves formed in the tubesheet.

Ventilator with integrated oxygen production

A method of providing a breath to a human patient. The patient has a patient connection connected, by a patient circuit, to a ventilator having a first ventilator connection and a different second ventilator connection. Each of the first and second ventilator connections are in fluid communication with the patient circuit. The method includes identifying, with the ventilator, initiation of an inspiratory phase of the breath, delivering a bolus of oxygen to the first ventilator connection before or during the inspiratory phase, and delivering breathing gases comprising air to the second ventilator connection during the inspiratory phase. The ventilator isolates the bolus of oxygen delivered to the first ventilator connection from the breathing gases delivered to the second ventilator connection.

Fluid Separation Processes Using Membranes Based on Fluorinated and Perfluorinated Polymers

A process for separating components or a fluid mixture using membranes comprising a selective layer made from copolymers of an amorphous per fluorinated dioxolane and a fluorovinyl monomer. The resulting membranes have superior selectivity performance for certain fluid components of interest while maintaining fast permeance compared to membranes prepared using conventional perfluoropolymers, such as Teflon® AF, Hyflon® AD, and Cytop®.

SEPARATION AND PURIFICATION COUPLED PROCESS WITH HIGH HELIUM YIELD AND DIVERSIFIED PRODUCTS

A separation and purification coupled process with a high helium yield and diversified products is provided The process is as follows. Firstly, a low-concentration helium-containing gas after being pressurized and pre-treated enters a two-stage and two-section membrane separation unit to produce a helium product with a medium concentration by concentrating stage by stage through the membrane separation unit. A part of the helium with medium concentration enters an adsorption unit for further concentration to produce a helium product above grade A.

An Electrochemical Nitrogen Generator System and Method. The system and method provide the ability to create a nitrogen-rich environment in containers of a variety of sizes. The system and method are able to extract the oxygen from the air within the container without reducing the internal pressure substantially below atmospheric. A version of the method is provided to reduce the oxygen content and replace it with nitrogen through a series of sequential fractional steps. In another form, the system and method will provide a “streaming” approach of bleeding off oxygen-containing contents of the container, while continuously replacing it with air until such time as the percentage of oxygen within the container is below the desired level. In yet another version, the system and method operate under pressure, thereby injecting pressurized air, either in sequential fractional steps or via continuous flow, whereby at the end of the process, the internal contents of the container are in a pressurized nitrogen environment, and the oxygen expelled from the container during the process is also under pressure.

WHEEL LOCK FOR THUMBWHEEL ACTUATED DEVICE

A wheel lock or clip for maintaining position of a thumbwheel or wheel of a rotary actuated delivery device includes an arcuate or curved body having a live hinge extending therefrom, the hinge connected to an arm having an engagement tooth extending therefrom. The tooth is operatively connected to tab for actuation by a user to disengage the engagement tooth from teeth of gear or barrel of a wheel or a thumbwheel of the rotary actuated device to thereby allow free movement of the wheel or thumbwheel.

In order to acquire patient respiratory information during oxygen concentrator operation, it is necessary to separate patient respiration components and variable pressure components associated with PSA from the measured data of the patient respiration pressure. Provided is a respiratory information acquisition device which acquires respiratory information of a patient and which is used fora PSA-type oxygen concentrator, including a pressure detection unit for detecting pressure in conduit and/or a flow rate detection unit for detecting a gas flow rate in the conduit, and a calculation unit for extracting oxygen respiratory information from detected pressure data and/or flow rate data, wherein the calculation unit estimates a fluctuation component which does not depend on respiration of the patient based on detected data and information related to an operation state of the oxygen concentrator obtained from the oxygen concentrator, and extracts respiratory information by removing the fluctuation component estimated from the detected pressure data and/or the flow rate data.
