The system additionally has a chemical reactor for catalytically removing oxygen, a first heat exchanger, a water separator, a store, and a humidifier which are connected into the hydrogen line in the stated order one behind the other between the electrolyzer and the energy converter. A second heat exchanger is arranged in the hydrogen line such that a first side of the second heat exchanger is arranged in front of the first heat exchanger and a second side of the second heat exchanger is arranged downstream of the water separator in the hydrogen line.
Method for Producing a Gas Separation Membrane
The present invention relates to a method for producing ceramic gas-separation membranes, which comprises depositing, by means of inkjet printing, water-based inks that form layers of a gas separation membrane. More specifically, the method comprises at least the following steps forming a porous support (i) compatible with a functional separation layer; depositing on the support (i), by means of inkjet printing, at least one functional separation layer (ii) formed by at least two inks, and depositing at least one porous catalytic activation layer (iii) on the functional separation layer (ii); and performing at least one heat treatment, which produces sintering. The functional separation layer (ii) is deposited in a manner to produce a surface with fadings, patterns, or combinations thereof he invention also relates to a gas separation membrane produced using the described method.
Gas separation apparatus and gas separation method
A gas separation apparatus includes a separation membrane module including at least one gas separation membrane element in a housing, a casing for blocking external air, and a heat source unit for adjusting a temperature of a heat medium with which the casing is filled. The casing holds greater than or equal to two separation membrane modules.
REDUCING ENERGY CONSUMPTION FOR MARINE AND OFFSHORE MEMBRANE APPLICATIONS
Disclosed herein are membrane-based onboard gas separation methods and systems, and in particular membrane-based onboard air separation methods and systems for ships and offshore installations, in which a vacuum is applied on the permeate side of the membrane separator unit in order to reduce the energy consumption of the process.
Tunable adsorbents
The present invention relates to a method for modifying the crystalline inorganic framework of an adsorbent with coatings to provide rate selectivity for one gas over others is described. The method described herein narrows the effective pore size of crystalline porous solids with pores less than about 5 Å for rate selective separations. This method of the invention comprises treating the hydrated or partially hydrated zeolite with a silicone derived binding agent followed by subsequent heat treatment. The additive content and treatment are adjusted to match effective pore size to specific separations. The superior adsorbent has the added convenience of bead forming simultaneously with pore modification as well as having the treatment result in the yielding of high crush strength products.
DEVICE FOR PERFORMING ELECTROLYSIS OF WATER, AND A SYSTEM THEREOF
A device for performing electrolysis of water is disclosed. The device comprising: a semiconductor structure comprising a surface and an electron guiding layer below said surface, the electron guiding layer of the semiconductor structure being configured to guide electron movement in a plane parallel to the surface, the electron guiding layer of the semiconductor structure comprising an InGaN quantum well or a heterojunction, the heterojunction being a junction between AlN material and GaN material or between AlGaN material and GaN material; at least one metal cathode arranged on the surface of the semiconductor structure; and at least one photoanode arranged on the surface of the semiconductor structure, wherein the at least one photoanode comprises a plurality of quantum dots of In.sub.xGa.sub.(1−x)N material, wherein 0.4≤x≤1. A system comprising such device is also disclosed.
ELECTROLYZER SYSTEM AND MATRIX CELL THEREFOR
Matrix cells are used to improve the regeneration capacity of an electrolyzer system. The electrolyte is electrolyzed in the matrix cell. Gas (predominantly product gas) which has unwantedly accessed the electrolyte space is transported off from the electrolyte space into the gas space envisioned therefor by a degassing device. Additional measures such as ultrasonic transducers and field electrodes may realize electrolyte flow and improved transporting-off of gas.
Air separation device and refrigerating and freezing device
An air separation device and a refrigerating and freezing device. The air separation device comprises a support frame and an air separation membrane, wherein a supporting surface with a channel and an enriched-gas collection chamber communicated with the channel are formed in the support frame. The air separation membrane laid on the support surface of the support frame and configured to enable more of a specific gas than other gases in airflow of the space around the air separation device to enter the enriched-gas collection chamber through the air separation membrane. According to the air separation device provided by the present invention, the support frame is specially designed to adopt the structure provided with the support surface and the enriched-gas collection chamber, the channel communicated with the enriched-gas collection chamber is formed on the support surface, and the air separation membrane is disposed on the support surface.
Selective, adsorbate-induced spin state changes in transition metal-based metal-organic frameworks
An adsorbate-selective metal organic framework includes a transition metal; and a plurality of organic molecules coordinated to the transition metal so as to preserve open coordination sites for selectively adsorbing molecules that have low-lying π* orbitals. The transition metal has a lowest energy spin state in the presence of the selectively adsorbed molecules that are strongly bonding to the transition metal through π-donating interactions which is different than the lowest energy spin state in the absence of these adsorbed molecules. The transition metal has also a lowest energy spin state in the presence of non-selected molecules that are weakly bonding to the transition metal through σ- and/or π-accepting and/or donating interactions.
Membranes containing polymerized ionic liquid for use in gas separation
The invention relates to dense synthetic membranes made from polymerised phosphonium-based ionic liquids which were found to be particularly suitable for use in gas separation. The membranes are obtainable by copolymerization via UV-curing of a composition comprising a phosphonium-based ionic liquid monomer, a co-monomer, a cross-linker, a surfactant and a photo-initiator, the remainder of the polymerization mixture consisting of water. The invention also relates to a process of manufacturing said membranes, resulting in solid, dense and mechanically stable membranes, and to the use of the membranes so produced in the separation of gas mixtures, particularly gas mixtures containing carbon dioxide.
