PROTEIN NANOFIBER AIR FILTER MATERIALS AND METHODS
Air filters formed from mats of protein-containing nanowires are provided. The nanowires are formed into a mat with pores that allow air to pass through while physically filtering particulate matter. The protein in the protein-containing nanowires also serves to chemically filter polluted air passed through the filter. Specifically, chemical functional groups from the many amino acids that comprise the protein of the protein-containing nanowire react with certain chemical pollutants (e.g., carbon monoxide and formaldehyde) in order to capture or otherwise neutralize the pollutant. Accordingly, the single nanofiber mat performs two filtering functions. Methods of filtering air using the provided air filters are also disclosed, as well as methods for making the air filters from protein-containing nanofibers.
Supervisory control and pathogen-destroying electrostatic precipitator system
An electrostatic air cleaner may be operated according to a manner designed to achieve acceptable air quality while balancing power usage and corona electrode degradation levels. The voltage applied to the corona electrode(s) may be controlled as well as the voltage applied to repelling electrodes and air flow velocity. The air cleaner may also be operated to achieve desired particle separation.
Methods and Equipment for Treatment of Odorous Gas Streams
A method for removing noxious, hazardous, toxic, mutagenic, and/or carcinogenic compounds and/or precursor compounds from a comingled gas, liquid, and/or solid stream is described. In one embodiment, the method is used to prepare the stream for feeding to an oxidizer, such as a thermal oxidizer, to reduce the amount of particulate matter discharged by the oxidizer and includes passing the stream through an ambient or chilled temperature condenser followed by an optional gas/solid separator, and one or more gas scrubbers prior to feeding to the oxidizer.
AIR IONIZATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Ionization systems configured with a catalyst-bearing sleeve provide improved filtration while keeping ozone levels within acceptable limits. Modular configurations provide for serviceability and replaceability. System controls monitor particulates, temperature, humidity, and other relevant factors and adjust an ionization level accordingly for optimal performance.

AIR PURIFICATION DEVICE AND PROCESS
A device and a process used to purify air from pollutants are disclosed. The device has at least one empty body defining a chamber intended to receive an air flow to be purified and having at least one inlet hole for the air, and at least one outlet hole for the air. The chamber has an electric field generator, at least one photocatalyst, intended to be excited by a luminous radiation, implementing a photocatalysis process, at least one luminous radiation source intended to excite the photocatalyst, and at least one adsorbing material. The electric field generator, the at least one photocatalyst and the at least one adsorbing material are disposed in the chamber in such manner to cooperate.
RADIAL AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEM FOR REMOVAL OF CONTAMINANTS FROM A GAS AND METHODS OF FABRICATION
A radial air purification system, a method of forming the purification system, and methods of removing at least one contaminant from a gas using the purification system are provided. The radial air purification system includes adsorbent media tubular supports that are fabricated using a fiberglass grating structure to provide increased strength, corrosion resistance, reduction in weight, and lower fabrication costs.
WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM AND WATER TREATMENT PROCESS
A water treatment system including: a biological treatment stage for treating an organic wastewater by an action of a microorganism; an ozone gas producing stage for generating ozone gas; a sludge transferring stage for withdrawing and transferring a part of the microorganism-mixed liquid in the biological treatment stage; an ozone treatment stage for bringing ozone into contact with the part of the microorganism-mixed liquid transferred; and a treated liquid returning stage for returning the treated liquid after the ozone treatment from the ozone treatment stage to the biological treatment stage. Undecomposed aggregated microorganisms after the ozone treatment are separated and concentrated, and an ozone treatment is selectively applied to the aggregated undecomposed microorganisms thus separated and concentrated.
AIR FILTER COMPRISING A MULTILAYER FILTER MATERIAL
A multi-layer filter material for an interior air filter element of an air conditioning system of a vehicle may include an active layer having a plurality of non-impregnated activated carbon particles, an impregnation layer having a plurality of impregnated activated carbon particles, and an ion exchange layer having a plurality of ion exchanger particles. The active layer may be arranged between the ion exchange layer and the impregnation layer. The active layer may further include a first ash content and the impregnation layer may further include a second ash content. The first ash content in the active layer may be less than the second ash content in the impregnation layer.
