Method and system for sequestering carbon dioxide and producing hydrogen gas
A system and method for the simultaneous sequestration of CO2, production of hydrogen, and production of electricity at any iron and steel industries is described. In one illustrative example, the raw materials particularly used in a blast furnace can also be used for locking CO2 gas in the form of siderite. Siderite, thus formed, can be decomposed to generate pure CO2 gas. Eventually, the generated pure CO2 gas can be sequestered underground, sold or used for oil gas recovery or for other applications.
Method for purifying exhaust gas and for regenerating an oxidation catalyst
The invention relates to a method for purifying exhaust gas and for regenerating an oxidation catalytic converter, comprising treating the exhaust gas in an oxidation catalytic converter, which comprises a catalytically active material, which contains at least one noble metal and/or at least one base transition metal, wherein the oxidation catalytic converter is operated continuously or at times at a temperature that causes the oxidation of soot particles and/or carbon particles, and/or wherein the oxidation catalytic converter is periodically heated to a temperature that causes the oxidation of soot particles and/or carbon particles.
Foam intercept system
A foam intercept system and a method of using the foam intercept system are disclosed herein. The foam intercept system is useful to control levels of foam generated on the surface of effluent seawater during aeration of the effluent seawater in a seawater aeration basin. Effluent seawater contained within the seawater aeration basin may be produced in a seawater flue gas desulfurization system associated with a power plant or an aluminum production plant.
Regenerable sorbent for carbon dioxide removal
A mixed salt composition adapted for use as a sorbent for carbon dioxide removal from a gaseous stream is provided, the composition being in solid form and including magnesium oxide, an alkali metal carbonate, and an alkali metal nitrate, wherein the composition has a molar excess of magnesium characterized by a Mg:X atomic ratio of at least about 3:1, wherein X is the alkali metal. A process for preparing the mixed salt is also provided, the process including mixing a magnesium salt with a solution comprising alkali metal ions, carbonate ions, and nitrate ions to form a slurry or colloid including a solid mixed salt including magnesium carbonate; separating the solid mixed salt from the slurry or colloid to form a wet cake; drying the wet cake to form a dry cake including the solid mixed salt; and calcining the dry cake to form a mixed salt sorbent.
GAS TREATMENT METHOD, AND GAS TREATMENT DEVICE
An aspect of the present invention is a gas treatment method including: an absorption step of bringing a gas to be treated, which contains carbon dioxide and a sulfur compound, into contact with an absorption liquid to be phase-separated by carbon dioxide absorption, to cause the absorption liquid to absorb the carbon dioxide and the sulfur compound; and a first release step of heating the absorption liquid brought into contact with the gas to be treated to a temperature equal to or higher than a temperature at which the carbon dioxide absorbed by the absorption liquid is released from the absorption liquid and lower than a temperature at which the sulfur compound absorbed by the absorption liquid is released from the absorption liquid, to release the carbon dioxide from the absorption liquid.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CARBON CAPTURE
The present disclosure provides systems for carbon capture in combination with production of one or more industrially useful materials. The disclosure also provides methods for carrying out carbon capture in combination with an industrial process. In particular, carbon capture can include carrying out calcination in a reactor, separation of carbon dioxide rich flue gases from industrially useful products, and capture of at least a portion of the carbon dioxide for sequestration of other use, such as enhanced oil recovery.
Catalyst mixture for the treatment of waste gas
A catalyst comprises a mixture of 95% vol. to 30% vol. of an activated carbon catalyst and from 5% vol. to 70% vol. of a filler material as well as a configuration of such a catalyst for the removal of SO.sub.2, heavy metals and/or dioxins form waste gas and liquids.
Low pressure drop static mixing system
A contaminated gas stream can be passed through an in-line mixing device, positioned in a duct containing the contaminated gas stream, to form a turbulent contaminated gas stream. One or more of the following is true: (a) a width of the in-line mixing device is no more than about 75% of a width of the duct at the position of the in-line mixing device; (b) a height of the in-line mixing device is no more than about 75% of a height of the duct at the position of the in-line mixing device; and (c) a cross-sectional area of the mixing device normal to a direction of gas flow is no more than about 75% of a cross-sectional area of the duct at the position of the in-line mixing device. An additive can be introduced into the contaminated gas stream to cause the removal of the contaminant by a particulate control device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDUCING ORE USING HYDROGEN AS A REDUCING AGENT
A system for reducing ore includes a hydrogen supply unit configured to supply hydrogen, a furnace configured to reduce the ore using the supplied hydrogen, and a hydrogen recovery unit configured to recover hydrogen from an exhaust gas that is exhausted from the furnace.
RATE ENHANCEMENT OF GAS CAPTURE PROCESSES
The present invention relates to a method of capturing CO.sub.2 from a gas stream. The method uses a two liquid phase capture composition.
