The invention relates to the use of an uncoated cross-linked non-pyrolysed selective vinyl based halopolymer-membrane with a mwco of between 100 and 1000 Da, in the filtration of compounds from liquids comprising organic solvents and/or from liquids with a pH below 2 or above 12.

Air treatment method

A built-in apparatus and method for treating air including a housing with an air inlet and an air outlet. An air mover positioned near the air outlet is configured to draw the air through the air inlet. The housing encloses an air treatment zone, such as including an oxidizing zone, and an ozone removal zone positioned downstream of the air treatment zone and oxidizing zone. The air treatment zone includes UV light and/or ozone that partially oxidizes the chemical contaminants in the air treatment zone. A catalyst in the oxidizing zone oxidizes elements within the air treatment zone. The ozone removal zone includes a second, different catalyst material. A UV bulb that may or may not generate ozone is positioned within or downstream of the first and/or second catalyst materials to assist catalyst oxidation and/or self-clean the apparatus.

An indoor smoker includes a smoking chamber and an air handler for drawing a flow of smoke from the smoking chamber through an exhaust duct. A catalytic converter is positioned in the exhaust duct and includes a catalytic element and catalytic heater for heating the catalytic element to a temperature suitable for regulating emissions from the flow of smoke. A temperature sensor is used to monitor the temperature of the catalytic element, and smoke generation is stopped when the catalyst temperature drops below a temperature threshold or drops at a rate that exceeds a threshold rate, which may be indicative of a failure of the catalyst heater or air handler.

DEODORIZING DEVICE FOR WASTE AIR FROM HOT AIR TREATMENT PLANTS FOR FOODSTUFF AND/OR ANIMAL FEED
20210031132 · 2021-02-04 ·

A deodorizing device for waste air from hot air treatment plants for foodstuff and/or animal feed, having a treatment unit with a housing which has a treatment chamber that can be flowed through and is arranged between at least one waste air intake connection and at least one waste air outlet connection. At least one capacitor element and an activated carbon filter element are arranged in the cross-section, which can be flowed through. At least one fresh air supply line opens into the treatment chamber, wherein the cross-section of the fresh air supply line that can be flowed through can be changed and/or closed by means of a motor-driven control valve. At least one filter element is also arranged downstream of the opening of the fresh air supply line into the treatment chamber.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REMOVAL OF A TARGET GAS FROM A COLD STORAGE ENVIRONMENT

Various embodiments are directed to an improved electrochemical cell system that is configured to reduce the concentration of a target gas in a cold storage environment. The electrochemical cell system may comprise an electrochemical cell apparatus, an air circulation apparatus, and a flow hood. The electrochemical cell apparatus may be combined with or coupled to an air circulation apparatus via the flow hood to maximize access of the target gas to the gas aperture.

Processes for removing a nitrogen-based compound from a gas or liquid stream to produce a nitrogen-based product
10898852 · 2021-01-26 ·

The present invention is directed to a process for removing gas phase nitrogen-based compounds by absorption into a liquid stream. The absorbed nitrogen-based compound is reacted with an acid to produce a nitrogen-based product. The nitrogen-based compound, the acid, and the resulting nitrogen-based product may be organic compounds, i.e. compounds derived from animal matter or plant matter. The nitrogen-based product may be a fertilizer, such as ammonium acetate or ammonium citrate that may be certified as organic. Processes are also described for removing nitrogen-based compounds from a liquid stream to produce a nitrogen-based product, including organic fertilizers. One process includes producing cavitation bubbles into which a liquid phase nitrogen-based compound is stripped, followed by absorption to produce a nitrogen-based product. Another process includes the use of a degassing membrane to remove a liquid phase nitrogen-based compound that is degassed to produce a nitrogen-based product, including organic fertilizers.

Air cleaning device

An air cleaning device is disclosed. A first opening and closing member opens and closes an inlet of a housing. A second opening and closing member opens and closes an outlet of the housing. A first filter unit collects and separates foreign substances from contaminated air in the housing. A circulation tube has a first end portion disposed at the inlet to communicate with the housing and a second end portion disposed at the outlet to communicate with the housing. A third opening and closing member opens and closes the circulation tube. A first heater is installed inside the circulation tube to heat air in the circulation tube. A blower is installed inside the circulation tube to deliver air from the circulation tube into the housing.

Smoked food, method for smoking food and apparatus therefor

Food for human consumption is smoked by providing smoke, removing one or more polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from the smoke and contacting the food with the treated smoke, or smoking the food and then removing the PAHs from the smoked food. PAH removal is selective, to remove the PAHs that contain 4 or more benzene rings, in particular without significantly changing the volatile profile of the smoked food. A selective filter is provided, as is apparatus comprising a smoke generator, a chamber in which to smoke food, and the selective filter, disposed between the smoke generator and the chamber.

Indoor smoker

An indoor smoker includes a cabinet including an exhaust duct, a smoking chamber, a firebox, and a bypass duct extending between the firebox and the exhaust duct. The indoor smoker further includes a system of dampers and check valves to regulate the flow of smoke and air within the indoor smoker. A controller may regulate these features to terminate a smoking process by asphyxiating the combustible material and evacuating the smoking chamber, to pause a process by evacuating the smoking chamber while permitting bleed air into the smoldering chamber, or to continue a normal smoking operation.
