DEVICE FOR LIFTING AND TRANSPORTING A PERSON
A device for transporting a person, having two blades extending along a longitudinal axis between two ends and each having two edges, and two longitudinal ends, the blades configured to be assembled to each other in a reversible manner in an assembly position by a coupling between two edges, parallel to the axis, to form a concave support surface on which a person can be transported, the support surface having two longitudinal ends, formed by the association of the longitudinal ends of each blade, and two lateral edges, the device further has means for locking the assembly position, each of the locking means being able to be reversibly secured to the ends of the two blades, and able to form a locking of the blades in the assembly position, each of the locking means further forming a gripping portion when the locking means are secured and/or locked on the surface.
Patient support apparatus with a side ramp
A patient support apparatus supports a patient and comprises a litter. The litter comprises a patient support deck and extends longitudinally between first and second ends. A base is configured to support the litter and comprises a base lift mechanism configured to move the litter between lifted and lowered base positions. A side ramp is coupled to the patient support deck along the litter between the first and second ends and extends laterally away from the patient support deck to an engagement end. The side ramp is pivotable relative to the litter between first and second positions. In the first position, the side ramp is planar with or angled upwardly to extend above the patient support deck. In the second position, the side ramp is angled downwardly to extend below the patient support deck for contacting the floor surface with the engagement end when in the lowered base position.

Patient Support Apparatus For Supporting A Patient For Movement Assisted By First And Second Caregivers
A patient support apparatus supports a patient for movement assisted by first and second caregivers and includes a litter. The litter includes a patient support deck extending between first and second ends and defines at least one cavity. First and second evacuation interfaces are coupled to the litter. The first and second evacuation interfaces pivot between first and second unfolded positions and first and second upright positions, respectively, and move between first and second lengthened positions and first and second shortened positions, respectively. The first and second evacuation interfaces are disposed in the cavity when the first and second evacuation interfaces are in the first and second unfolded positions and the first and second shortened positions, respectively, and configured to be grasped and lifted by the first and second caregivers when the first and second evacuation interfaces are in the first and second upright positions, respectively.

Techniques for Detecting a Force Acting on a Base of a Patient Transport Apparatus
A patient transport apparatus for use with a vehicle, comprising a lift mechanism between a base and a support frame to move between an extended configuration defining a first distance and a retracted configuration defining a second distance. An interface generates a user signal. A sensor generates a sensor signal corresponding to force acting on the base relative to the support frame. A controller determines if the user signal corresponds to an extend or retract command; determines if the force acting on the base has exceeded a predetermined threshold value based on the sensor signal; drives the lift mechanism toward the extended configuration where the user signal corresponds to the extend command and toward the retracted configuration where the user signal corresponds to the retract command; and interrupts driving the lift mechanism to stop motion of the lift mechanism in response to the sensor signal exceeding the predetermined threshold value.
