PLEATED FILTER STRUCTURE FOR AIR CLEANING AND AIR FILTERING METHOD
A pleated filter structure is provided for the removal of gaseous pollutants from a gas mixture to be filtered. The structure comprises an ideally air impervious filter sheet, being pleated so as to form an adjacent series of slit shaped conduits for the passage of air through the structure, each bounded on either side by the folded sections of the filter sheet, these being joined by a series of top creases and bottom creases. The top and/or bottom creases incorporate slit-shaped openings allowing passage of a gas mixture into and/or out of the structure. Gas to be filtered enters through one side of the structure, passes laterally across the filter sheet section surfaces and exits through the other side. Also provided are methods for the manufacture of a pleated filter structure, comprising forming rows of slit-shaped openings in a filter sheet and providing folds, in alternating directions, along the lengthwise extensions of adjacent rows of openings. Methods for filtering a gas are also provided.
HEAT PUMPS UTILIZING IONIC LIQUID DESICCANT
An ionic liquid desiccant system utilizes an ionic liquid desiccant to draw moisture from a working fluid, such as air that flow into an enclosure, such as a home. The desiccant may be mixed with the working fluid or a separator that allows moisture transport therethrough may be configured between the ionic liquid desiccant and the working fluid. The ionic liquid desiccant system may be part of an air conditioning system and may remove the moisture from air that is cooled by flowing over an evaporator or heat exchanger coupled with the evaporator. The ionic liquid desiccant may be pumped from a desiccant chamber to a regenerator chamber to remove absorbed moisture. A dual-purpose chamber may act as a desiccant chamber and as a regenerator chamber. A refrigeration system may have an electrochemical compressor and may utilize metal hydride heat exchangers.
Membrane Microgravity Air Conditioner
Clean condensate production may be produced from humidity in unfiltered air for an extended period of time using a membrane microgravity air conditioner which comprises an air box, comprising an inlet air flow path from a side face through an open top, and a filtering system disposed within the air box. The filtering system comprises one or more trash screens disposed in the inlet air flow path, one or more latent heat exchangers (LHX) disposed in the inlet air flow path, one or more particulate filters disposed in the inlet air flow path intermediate the trash screen and the LHX, one or more thermal control system (TCS) medium temperature loops, and one or more sensible heat exchangers (SHX) disposed in the inlet air flow path intermediate the particulate filter and the LHX.
CARBON DIOXIDE FIXATION APPARATUS
The present invention provides a new carbon dioxide fixation apparatus. The carbon dioxide fixation apparatus (1) of the present invention includes: a first reaction vessel (10); a carbon dioxide fixing agent feeding unit (110); and a gas-liquid mixing unit. The first reaction vessel (10) can contain a carbon dioxide fixing agent, the carbon dioxide fixing agent feeding unit (110) can feed the carbon dioxide fixing agent into the first reaction vessel (10), and the gas-liquid mixing unit can mix a gas containing carbon dioxide into the carbon dioxide fixing agent.
ENHANCED PHOTO-CATALYTIC CELLS
According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for ionizing air includes a first reflector and a first target. The first reflector receives direct UV energy (from a UV emitter) and reflects it to form reflected UV energy. The first target has an inner face that also receives direct UV energy (from the UV emitter). The first target also has an outer face that receives the reflected UV energy from the first reflector. The faces of the first target are coated with a photo-catalytic coating. The first target may also have passages between the faces.
HYGROSCOPIC MATERIAL AND DEHUMIDIFIER USING SAME
The present invention achieves a moisture absorbing material which enables efficient dehumidification without supercooling or large heat quantity; and a dehumidifier in which the moisture absorbing material is used. The moisture absorbing material can be a dried product of a polymer gel in which an interpenetrating polymer network structure or a semi-interpenetrating polymer network structure is formed by (a) a stimuli-responsive polymer whose affinity with water changes reversibly in response to an external stimulus and (b) a hydrophilic polymer.
BOTANICAL AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system and process for filtering air by removing pollutants from the air with living plants. The system includes an enclosure, a wall within the enclosure on which living plants are supported and grow in one or more horizontal plant beds defining vertical tiers along the wall, an irrigation system for watering the plants, and a lighting system for simulating sunlight. Air moving through the enclosure flows adjacent leaves of the plants, through a growth media in the plant bed, and then out of the enclosure.
GAS ACCUMULATION AND COMBUSTION CONTROL DEVICE
A gas accumulation and combustion control device combining a sorption system, a ventilation system, a control system, and sensor system, with the sensor system configured to detect gas contaminants, transmit a gas detection signal to the control system, the control system configured to adjust the ventilation system based on the gas detection signal, the ventilation system configured to draw the contaminated air in from the atmosphere and lead it toward the sorption system, which in turn is configured to adsorb or absorb the gas contaminants.
LED photocatalyst module using photocatalyst
The present invention relates to an LED photocatalyst module comprising: a light supplying unit for irradiating light onto a photocatalyst so that the photocatalyst is activated; a photocatalyst purifying unit disposed spaced apart from the light supplying unit and purifying polluted air; and a discharging unit disposed spaced apart from the photocatalyst purifying unit and sucking in the air purified by the photocatalyst purifying unit and discharging the air to the outside, wherein the photocatalyst purifying unit includes a ceramic honeycomb structure in which a plurality of photocatalyst pores, coated with the photocatalyst, are combined in a honeycomb pattern, and the photocatalyst includes a porous metal oxide film and metal particles formed on a surface of the porous metal oxide film.
In-line modular air filtering system for ductwork
An in-line modular air filtering system for ductwork. A housing formed as a body and one or more caps has an intake opening at a first end and an outflow opening at a second end. The cap and body may attach to one another at a junction containing a seal with a stepped cross-sectional configuration. A set of retaining clamps may be used to secure the cap on the body. One or more replaceable filter assemblies may be retained in the housing for filtering air passed therethough. A filter assembly may include a seal having the stepped cross-sectional configuration for securing in the housing and sealing the cap and body junction. Filter assemblies may have differing porosities and/or different filtering mechanisms and may be stacked for applying multiple treatments.
