This document presents an apparatus for a flexible air filter media that can be configured for shipping and storage having one or more flexible inserts mounted to the filter media along one or more portions of the accordion folds of the air filter material. The current invention permits the air filter apparatus to fold along both X and Y axes, create a tri-fold, and bend in a manner that provides for a much smaller volume for shipping purposes. The invention also permits attaching the flexible material to the center of the filter media and also inserts which allow sections of the air filter media to be nested one into another to reduce both shipping and storage volume.

A filter includes a relatively rigid support frame having top and bottom frame members and side frame members. A filter element is disposed within and supported by the frame for filtering a medium passing through the filter element. Two opposing members of the frame are bendable into an arch to allow the filter to be progressively inserted along an arched path into a filter housing. In one embodiment, the filter is a cabin air filter for a vehicle and opposing sides of the frame are provided with V-shaped notches to facilitate bending the filter into an arch for insertion.

An air filter including a visually uniform filter life indicator (30), the air filter (1) comprising: a conformable, unframed air filter media (10) that is installable on at least a portion of an upstream face (11) of a filter-support layer of an air-handling system, wherein the conformable, unframed air filter media comprises at least one passivated area (20) that provides a visually uniform filter life indicator of the air filter. Filter life indicators are used in order that aspects of the filtration performance of an air filter can be monitored.

A collapsible filter having a collapsed position and an expanded position includes a filter media layer having generally parallel pleat edges and a side edge perpendicular to the pleat edge. The filter also has a pair of end caps that are disposed at opposite ends of the filter media layer and are generally parallel to the pleat edges. A flexible side seal is attached to both the end caps but is not attached to the filter media layer. In an expanded position, the flexible side seal extends between the end caps and abuts against the side edge of the filter media layer.

A strip according to the invention includes a plurality of first creases distributed along the first side of the strip, a plurality of second creases distributed along the second side of the strip, and the plurality of first creases being able to extend and the plurality of second creases being able to shrink, thereby the strip being bendable towards the second side. The strip according to the invention is able to be bendable as well as not easily deformed.

A vehicle including a powertrain assembly supported by the frame and an air intake assembly operably coupled to the powertrain assembly. The air intake assembly includes at least one inlet configured to direct air to different portions of an intake housing and filter positioned therein. The filter contains multiple sealing surfaces and a central air outlet.

A device that attaches to an air filter to modify the dimensions to allow fitment. The invention allows the use of a standard air filter in a non standard sized return filter grill or air handler.

A separator comprises a separator housing section forming an at least partially cylindrical inner wall with respect to a vertical axis, a funnel-shaped upper member with a large diameter portion being attached to said inner wall, a funnel-shaped lower member with a large diameter portion being attached to said inner wall at a position lower than said large diameter portion of said funnel-shaped upper member, an inlet opening arranged for leading fluid into said separator housing section at a position between said large diameter portions of the upper and funnel-shaped members with a flow direction of said fluid having at least a tangential component at said inlet opening. Said upper and lower funnel-shaped members each have axial openings at respective lower end portions opposite to said large diameter portions.

A collapsible air filter assembly for a heating and ventilation air conditioner (HVAC) system includes a filter element, and a frame supporting the filter element. The frame includes at least two edges each including a respective spring element configured to be moveable between an open state and a bent state. A compressible air filter assembly for an (HVAC) system includes a filter medium having rounded pleats configured to collapse and rebound in a controlled and repeatable manner between a compressed state and an original uncompressed state. A soft-wrapped filter assembly includes a frame in a box configuration. The frame includes rigid edges and openings to permit airflow. A filter element is encased by the frame. Flexible edge covers mounted on respective edges of the frame to provide an air seal in an HVAC system.

The invention refers to a deformable filter element comprising a flexible side element to seal pleats of its filter medium. An end section of the side element is bent over fold edges. The end section and the fold edges are secured to one another. The end section and a main section of the side element, which main section is typically arranged perpendicular to the fold edges, are neither parallel nor perpendicular to each other.
