There is provided an apparatus for removing fine particles having membranes for removing fine particles in a liquid, wherein a microfiltration membrane or ultrafiltration membrane having a positive charge and a microfiltration membrane or ultrafiltration membrane having a negative charge are arranged in series. There is also provided a method for removing fine particles using the apparatus. Liquids may be passed through the membrane having a negative charge and the membrane having a positive charge in order; thereby, extrafine particles having a particle size of 50 nm or smaller, especially of 10 nm or smaller, in the liquids can be removed highly. The liquid passing may be carried out in the order reverse thereto.

Hybrid oxygen concentrator with oxygen side balancing

The present disclosure pertains to a system configured to generate oxygen including a compressor configured to intake and pressurize gas, an oxygen separation unit comprising a first sieve bed, a second sieve bed, and an input receiving the stream of gas from an output of the compressor. The oxygen separation unit generates an oxygen flow by separating oxygen from the stream of gas. A membrane module in fluid connection with an output of the oxygen separation unit is configured to purify the oxygen flow generated by the oxygen separation unit. A valve arrangement is configured to direct, periodically, at least some of the oxygen flow from the membrane module through the sieve beds to purge the sieve beds with retentate gas and exhaust such retentate gas. One or more processors control the valve arrangement, so as to control the oxygen flow and purging of the sieve beds.

Automated waste water recycling system using advanced electro-coagulation unit

An automated waste water treatment system includes a collection tank constructed to hold waste water, a first flow line connected to the collection tank to output the waste water from the collection tank, an electrocoagulation unit that receives the waste water and outputs the waste water as coagulated waste water to a flow line, a polymer dosage tank to provide a polymer dosage into the flow line where the polymer dosage mixes with the coagulated waste water to produce and output flocculated waste water. A clarifier connected to the flow line receives the flocculated waste water and produces sludge-free waste water and concentrated sludge, a series of filters to output filter-treated water, and an ultrafiltration system that receives filter-treated water and outputs ultrafiltration-treated water to a reverse osmosis system.

Biological fluid purification with biocompatible membranes

Disclosed are apparatus and methods for blood and other biological fluid purification using a membrane with cell containing vascular channel systems and filtration channel systems. Also disclosed are methods of making the apparatus as well as methods of making membranes.

Molecular separations process

A molecular separation method can include: passing a deasphalted oil stream through a reactor containing an active substrate, wherein the catalytic active substrate adsorbs heteroatom species from the deasphalted oil stream and produces a pretreated hydrocarbon feed stream essentially free of 4+ ring aromatic molecules (ARC 4+ species), metal species, and heteroatom species; and chromatographically separating with a simulated moving bed apparatus or a true moving bed apparatus (SMB/TMB) the pretreated hydrocarbon feed stream into a saturate fraction and an aromatics fraction.
