In some embodiments, the comparative article is identical to the article except that the inner region of the first surface of the membrane of the article has a perimeter that is 10% to 75% higher than a perimeter of an inner region of a first surface of a membrane of the comparative article.
MOLECULAR WEIGHT FILTRATION SYSTEM AND APPARATUS WITH ADDITIONAL FLOW CONFIGURATIONS
A molecular filtration device and method of use capable of filtering and purifying molecules of a particular characteristic, wherein the amount of molecule to be filtered may be in the nanogram range and may be dispersed in a relatively large volume of solution. The resultant elution may include a relatively high concentration of desired molecule, due to a relatively small volume.
Hollow fiber membrane module
A hollow fiber membrane module includes: a tubular case; a hollow fiber membrane bundle; and a pair of sealing and fixing portions, in which an outside-membrane channel that passes by an outer wall of each of the hollow fiber membranes and an inside-membrane channel that passes through the hollow inside of each of the hollow fiber membranes are formed, moist air flows through the outside-membrane channel, and dry air flows through the inside-membrane channel, whereby moisture in the moist air is supplied to the dry air by a membrane separation effect of the hollow fiber membranes, wherein a plurality of spaces are disposed between the case inner wall and the hollow fiber membrane bundle, and a restriction portion that restricts the hollow fiber membrane from entering into the spaces is partially disposed between the hollow fiber membrane bundle and each of the spaces.
Air separation modules and methods of making air separation modules
An air separation module includes a canister, a separator, and a perforated plate. The canister has a plenum portion connecting an inlet portion to an outlet portion, extends circumferentially about a canister axis, and has a plenum diameter that is larger than a canister diameter defined by the inlet and outlet portion of the canister. The separator is arranged within the canister and axially spans the plenum portion to separate air received at the inlet end portion into nitrogen-enriched and oxygen-enriched air flows. The perforated plate is seated within the plenum portion, fluidly couples the separator to an oxygen-enriched air outlet port defined by the plenum portion, and has a snap-fit major dimension smaller than the plenum diameter to radially support a portion of the separator axially spanning the plenum portion of the canister. Nitrogen generation systems and methods of making air separation modules are also described.
Modular, disposable 3D printed microfluidic membrane system for separation and purification
The present disclosure relates to a membrane extraction apparatus for extracting a component from a first liquid. The apparatus may incorporate a housing comprised of first and second mating housing halves, with each housing half having an open faced channel formed therein such that the channels at least partially overlay one another when the two housing halves are secured together. A membrane filter is disposed between the two housing halves to overlay the open faced channels. The membrane filter extracts the component from the first liquid and transfers the component into the second liquid as the first and second liquids flow through the first and second housing halves.
FUEL CELL HUMIDIFIER AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
Disclosed are: a fuel cell humidifier capable of reliably preventing a gas leak due to repeated operating and stopping of a fuel cell and capable of being manufactured with relatively low manufacturing costs and high productivity; and a manufacturing method therefor. The fuel cell humidifier of the present invention comprises a humidifying module and caps coupled to both ends of the humidifying module, respectively, wherein: the humidifying module includes a mid-case, a plurality of hollow fiber membranes in the mid-case, a fixed layer in which the ends of the hollow fiber membranes are potted, and a composite gasket having a groove into which the end of the mid-case is fitted; the composite gasket includes an inner body, an outer body, and a connecting body provided therebetween and formed of a first material; and at least a portion of the inner body is adhered to the fixed layer and is formed of a second material that is different from the first material.
Modular flow system with internal strut members
The invention relates to a modular flow system having a plurality of frame elements (101, 102) configured to be combined together to form a stack for forming afunctional member such as in particular a membrane distillation stage, a vapor generator, a condenser, a heat exchanger, a filter and/or a pervaporation stage, wherein the frame elements (101, 102) each include: an outer frame (39) and an inner frame (43), the inner frame (43) encasing a central inner region (40) and being surrounded by the outer frame (39), passage openings (13 to 16) and vapor and/or liquid channels (17, 18) arranged between the outer frame (39) and the inner frame (43), wherein at least one of the vapor and/or liquid channels (17, 18) comprises at least one internal strut member (48) extending between the inner frame (43) and the outer frame (39).
