Tubular membrane with spiral flow
A permeable membrane tube to separate mixed fluids is provided, including a cyclone generator configured to cause fluid entering the permeable tube to flow in a spiral direction. The cyclonic generator may be a plug positioned at the fluid entrance of the membrane tube. The fluid passes through the permeable membrane tube, which has a center axis along a length of the tube, and flows in the spiral direction thereby separating the fluid into first and second portions, wherein the first portion comprises fluid having a greater density than the second portion and the first portion is directed to an inner surface of the tube.

The secondary seals are designed to maintain sterility of the assembly during shipping, handling and/or installation. A removable film may cover one or more fluid ports to maintain sterility prior to use.
Single Pass Tangential Flow Filtration Systems And Tangential Flow Filtration Systems With Recirculation Of Retentate
A method of filtering a liquid feed is described, comprising passing a liquid feed through a single pass tangential flow filtration (SPTFF) system and recovering the retentate and permeate from the system in separate containers. A method of filtering a liquid feed is also described comprising passing a liquid feed through a tangential flow filtration (TFF) system, recovering permeate and a portion of the retentate from the system in separate containers without recirculation through the TFF system, and recirculating the remainder of the retentate through the TFF system at least once. The methods of the invention can be performed using an SPTFF or a TFF system that comprises manifold segments to serialize the flow path of the feed and retentate without requiring diverter plates.
Portable dialysis machine
The specification discloses a portable dialysis machine having a detachable controller unit and base unit. The controller unit includes a door having an interior face, a housing with a panel, where the housing and panel define a recessed region configured to receive the interior face of the door, and a manifold receiver fixedly attached to the panel. The base unit has a planar surface for receiving a container of fluid, a scale integrated with the planar surface, a heater in thermal communication with the planar surface, and a sodium sensor in electromagnetic communication with the planar surface. Embodiments of the disclosed portable dialysis system have improved structural and functional features, including improved modularity, ease of use, and safety features.
Separation systems for removing starch and other usable by-products from processing waste water
The present invention provides for a method for separating starch from processing solutions containing starch containing plants or roots such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, wheat, corn, tapioca, yams, cassaya, sago, rice, pea, broad bean, horse bean, sorghum, konjac, rye, buckwheat and barley to provide commercially acceptable starch while reducing disposal of solid or liquid waste matter into landfills or water treatment facilities.

FILTER SYSTEM FOR BIOPHARMACEUTICAL PROCESSES
A filter system (100) for biopharmaceutical processes includes: at least one filter unit (10); and at least one distributor plate (200), against which the filter unit rests. A tubeless distributor unit (202) is arranged within the distributor plate and is fluidically connected to the filter unit. The distributor unit guides the fluid to be filtered to the filter unit and/or receives and discharges the filtered fluid from the filter unit. The distributor unit includes at least one active control element (232; 238), with which a fluid flow (14) through the distributor unit) and the filter unit is controlled in an open loop flow or a closed loop flow. The fluid connection between the filter unit and the distributor plate is tubeless. Also provided are a distributor plate (200) for a filter system (100) for biopharmaceutical processes and a method for producing a filter system (100) for biopharmaceutical processes.
Stack Assembly
Stack assembly comprising a hollow external housing having a central axis, the external housing extending from a first end to a second end and enclosing a housing space, and a membrane stack comprising a plurality of membranes, wherein the membrane slack is positionable inside the external housing and a number of side plates extending substantially parallel to the central axis, wherein each side plate of the number of side plates is associated with a side of the membrane stack and extending along the associated side and a number of sealing connectors that extend substantially parallel to the central axis and adjacent with an inner surface of the external housing, wherein each sealing connector of the number of sealing connectors is configured to connect two side plates to each other, wherein the sealing connectors and the side plates cooperate to form an enclosing structure, and wherein, in use of the stack assembly, the enclosing structure encloses the membrane stack. The invention also relates to a method for assembling a stack assembly and a method for generating energy or performing an electrodialysis process.
Filter cassette article, and filter comprising same
A filtration cassette including a multilaminate array of sheets including filter sheets alternating with permeate sheet members and retentate sheet members, and a cross-flow filter device comprising a multiplicity of stacked filtration cassettes of such type. The improvements associated with the filtration cassettes described herein include, but are not limited to, at least one of: reinforced inlet(s) providing for longevity and improved cleanability of the cassettes; spacer permeate screens to limit throughput restriction; stainless steel or otherwise stiffened permeate sheets to prevent movement and increase flux; and stainless steel permeate sheets that can be used with ultrasonic transmission to minimize fouling of the filter sheets and extend cleaning cycles. Advantageously, the filtration cassettes are more resistant to higher temperatures than the filtration cassettes of the prior art.
