Reverse osmosis push filter with floating key lock

A reverse osmosis filter assembly for fluid filtration having a push-activated lock and release mechanism. A push filter design activates a floating key lock upon insertion and extraction, where the filter key may be used simultaneously as a lock and as an identifier for particular filter attributes. The filter base may be situated inline, and in fluid communication, with the raw water ingress, permeate egress, and reject water egress. The reverse osmosis filter housing assembly may be attached to, and removed from, the filter base by a push-actuated release. Upon insertion, the filter key shifts the filter lock longitudinally to receive interlocking segments. Upon extraction, the same axial push shifts the filter lock further to align the interlocking fingers within gaps that allow for easy extraction. The specific key lock design allows a user to identify and match certain filter configurations received by the mechanical support, and reject other filter configurations.

Membrane module

The present invention relates to a novel membrane module for separating a fluid feed stream into a permeate stream and a retentate stream. The membrane module according to the invention is characterized in that all components are housed in a 20, 40, 45 HC, 45 PW or 53 HC container, whereby the membrane module can be transported and handled in a very simple and cost-effective manner despite its comparatively large volume and its high weight. The membrane module is furthermore characterized by its large membrane surface area compared with usually used membrane modules, whereby the number of individual membrane modules required in practical use can be reduced many times over. The present invention furthermore relates to a process for separating a fluid feed stream into a permeate stream and a retentate stream using the membrane module according to the invention.

The object of the invention relates to membrane housing elements that are constructed from an inner element, a fiber wrapping, and a casing, and to a method for its manufacture. Due to their structure, the membrane housing elements provide a high pressure resistance with respect to both radial and axial loading. The continuous manufacturing method allows the manufacture of a large number of piece numbers with high precision and uniformity. The membrane housing elements are used for membrane housings in the application fields of nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, ion exchange, and reverse osmosis.

STACKED-PLATE FILTER AND A METHOD OF USE

A stacked-plate filter removes particulates from a fluid stream. Each plate is a surface of revolution, including an annular plate having a central opening and an outer periphery. A plurality of plates are stacked axially and spaced to form gaps as fluid pathways between the central opening and periphery. Depending on the direction fluid flow, inner or outer edges at the central opening or periphery respectively form inlet edges; the inlet edges of adjacent plates being misaligned to form an offset gap interface for minimizing particulate clogging thereat. The inlet edge can be pleated, forming radially-extending edges for angular misalignment. Identical and adjacent plates can be alternated face-up and face down to form the offset gap interface. The filter can be fit within a housing and forming an annulus therebetween, the central opening and annulus forming one or the other of the fluid inlet and outlet.

Apparatus and process for the separation of a particulate matter from a fluid

The invention relates to an apparatus and a process for the treatment of an incoming fluid, comprising: a bottom part connecting a common feed stream to individual membrane filter modules through a tailor made connecting piece; a top part connecting individual membrane filter modules to a common retentate stream through a tailor made connecting piece. According to the invention the apparatus is assembled out of tailor-made parts with the object to reduce material costs and labor costs, and the part are made such that footprint of the contraption is minimized. Furthermore, the individual parts form a sub-unit with such dimensions that multiple sub-units can be combined into one main unit, without the need to execute any alterations to the sub-units in terms of sizing, by which means modularity and scalability is introduced into the main units.
