The product inlet stream for a first electrodialysis device comprises the brine outlet stream of a second electrodialysis device. Further, a first portion of a feed stream is the brine inlet stream for the first electrodialysis device and a second portion of the feed stream is the brine inlet stream for the second electrodialysis device or a third electrodialysis device.
PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING GASES
The invention relates to a process and apparatus for separation of gas mixtures with reduced maintenance costs. The process and the apparatus consist of a feed stream separation stage (1), and a retentate separation stage (2), of which both are membrance separation stages, wherein the first retentate stream (7) is heated to temperature higher than the temperature of the feed stream (5), before it is introduced to the retentate separation stage (2), and the total capacity of the membranes used in the retentate separation stage (2) is higher than the total capacity of the membranes used in the feed stream stage (1).
METHOD FOR SEPARATION AND ENRICHMENT OF LITHIUM
A method for separation and enrichment of lithium includes the following steps: pretreatment: carrying out at least two dilutions and at least two filtrations on salina aged brine to obtain pretreated brine; separation: separating the pretreated brine via a nanofiltration separation system to obtain nanofiltration permeate and nanofiltration concentrate; first concentration: carrying out first concentration on the nanofiltration permeate via a reverse osmosis system to obtain reverse osmosis concentrate and reverse osmosis permeate; second concentration: carrying out second concentration on the reverse osmosis concentrate via an electrodialysis system to obtain electrodialysis concentrate and electrodialysis permeate, and the electrodialysis concentrate is solution enriching lithium ions. The present application couples several different membrane separation technologies and dilutes the salina aged brine for many times, thereby realizing the purposes of improving separation efficiency of magnesium and lithium and improving the enrichment efficiency of lithium.
Desalination Brine Concentration System and Method
A system and method for producing very high concentration brine streams from which commercially efficiently obtained minerals may be obtained is produced by a dual membrane brine concentrator system (DTRI Concentrator). The system includes a nano-filtration system which removes divalent ions from the seawater, a brine concentrator such as a hollow fine fiber forward osmosis system which receives and further concentrates the brine rejected from the nano-filtration system, a SWRO system which receives the NF system permeate and removes monovalent ions, and another brine concentrator which further concentrates the brine rejected from SWRO system. Various permeate and reject brine flow may be forwarded through the Dual Membrane Brine Concentrator system, and multiple stages of the system components may be used, to enhance brine concentration and improve system efficiency.
METHOD FOR SEPARATION OF MAGNESIUM AND CALCIUM IONS FROM SALINE WATER, FOR IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF SOFT AND DESALINATED WATERS
Provided is a novel Nanofiltration-DiaNanofiltration (NF-DiaNF) system and method for extracting divalent ions from saline water (e.g., seawater) to produce solutions rich in divalent ions (in particular Mg2+, Ca2+ and SO42), while minimizing the concentrations of undesirable species (e.g., Cl, Br, B and Na+). The solutions may be added to water (e.g., desalinated, soft, drinking or irrigation water) to enrich the water with divalent ions, thereby improving its quality.
BIOLOGICAL AND ALGAE HARVESTING AND CULTIVATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Algae harvesting and cultivating systems and methods for producing high concentrations of algae product with minimal energy. In an embodiment, a dead-end filtration system and method includes at least one tank and a plurality hollow fiber membranes positioned in the at least one tank. An algae medium is pulled through the hollow fiber membranes such that a retentate and a permeate are produced.
Multi-stage membrane for N2 rejection
Nitrogen is removed from biogas using a three-stage separation system based on gas separation membranes. The first stage separates a biomethane feed stream into a first permeate gas stream and a first retentate gas stream. The second stage separates the first permeate stream into a biomethane product gas and a first low quality biomethane gas stream. The third stage separates the first retentate into a second low quality biomethane gas stream and a waste gas. A biogas feed stream is pretreated to remove amounts of water, VOCs, and CO.sub.2 to yield a methane-enriched biogas stream. The methane-enriched biogas stream is compressed together with the first and second low quality biomethane gas streams to form the biomethane feed stream.
CONCURRENT DESALINATION AND BORON REMOVAL (CDBR) PROCESS
A concurrent desalination and boron removal (CDBR) process and a system thereof are provided. The system includes: a plurality of single-stage reverse osmosis (SSRO) stages connected in series, and a countercurrent membrane cascade with recycle (CMCR). The process includes the following steps: introducing a retentate from one SSRO stage or a series of SSRO stages optimally as a feed to a CMCR; countercurrent a retentate flow and a permeate flow in the CMCR; permeate recycling to a retentate side in the CMCR; retentate self-recycling in at least one of membrane stages in the CMCR; introducing a permeate from the SSRO stage(s) as a feed to an LPMS; and blending permeate streams from the CMCR and LPMS to achieve concentrations in a water product.
Systems and methods for basic gas recovery, acid gas separation, or combination thereof
The present invention relates to processes and systems for basic gas, e.g., ammonia, recovery and/or acid-gas separation. In some embodiments, a system for acid gas separation may be integrated with an ammonia abatement cycle employing a high temperature absorber. In some embodiments, a system for acid gas separation may employ a higher temperature absorber due to the lower energy consumption and cost of the integrated ammonia abatement cycle. Advantageously, heat may be recovered from the absorber to power at least a portion of any acid gas desorption in the process. Reverse osmosis or other membranes may be employed.
