An asymmetric hydrophobic polyolefin hollow fiber membrane includes a support layer and a separation layer, the separation layer including an outer surface, the outer surface including a quantity of first pores with a certain pore size; presence of the first pores facilitates an anesthetic gas such as sevoflurane and remifentanil to permeate through the hollow fiber membrane into the human blood, allowing for the patient to maintain sedated throughout a surgical process; meanwhile, the first pores facilitate reduction of dosage of the anesthetic in the surgery, thereby reducing surgical costs and avoid overdosage of the anesthetic causing secondary impairment to the patient; in addition, the hollow fiber membrane offers a long plasma permeation duration, a high tensile strength and a high elongation at break to satisfy application needs, particularly suitable for human blood oxygenation including anesthetic gas and the gas-liquid separation areas.
ULTRAFILTRATION/NANOFILTRATION MEMBRANE WITH TUNABLE PORE SIZE
An ultrafiltration/nanofiltration membrane with gas-tunable pore size is provided. This membrane comprises an active layer arranged between two porous support layers, wherein the active layer is formed of randomly arranged cellulose nanocrystals, wherein pores are defined in the active layer by the free spaces existing between the randomly arranged cellulose nanocrystals, and wherein chains of a CO.sub.2-responsive polymer are grafted on the surface of the cellulose nanocrystals. There are also provided methods for filtering a feed using the membrane, for tuning the apparent pore size/MWCO/charge of the membrane, for cleaning the membrane, and for manufacturing the membrane.
MEMBRANES FOR MEMBRANE DISTILLATION DESALINATION TECHNOLOGY
The invention provides a method of producing multi-walled carbon nanotube blended polyvinylidene fluoride (MWCNTs/PVDF) membranes for membrane distillation (MD) treatment of saline water using non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS), said method including mixing two solvents with different solubility parameters and the use of a dual coagulation bath system to control the formation of membrane pore structures and enhance surface hydrophobicity whereby blended PVDF membranes are produced for application in MD processes.
Method for creating a porous film through aqueous phase separation
The invention relates to a method for creating a porous film through aqueous phase separation, the method comprising: i) providing an aqueous solution comprising a responsive copolymer, and optionally a charged polymer, wherein at least one of the monomers in the responsive copolymer is a responsive monomer; ii) forming the aqueous solution into a thin layer and contacting the thin layer of aqueous solution with an aqueous coagulation solution in which the responsive copolymer is not soluble, or contacting the thin layer of aqueous solution with an aqueous coagulation solution in which a complex comprising the responsive copolymer and the charged polymer is not soluble; and iii) allowing solvent exchange between the aqueous solution and the aqueous coagulation solution to produce a porous film. The invention further relates to porous films or membranes thus obtained.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING PVDF COMPOSITE SEPARATION MEMBRANE AND PVDF COMPOSITE SEPARATION MEMBRANE MANUFACTURED USING THE SAME
A method of manufacturing a PVDF composite separation membrane according to an embodiment of the present disclosure has advantages in that it is possible to control the size of pores in various ways based on the nonsolvent-induced phase transition process and calcination process, and manufacture a porous high-strength PVDF composite separation membrane having high water permeability, and it is possible to manufacture a PVDF composite separation membrane which may exhibit durability that does not damage the membrane even under high pressure, while having heat resistance applicable even at a high temperature of 150° C., and excellent chemical resistance to acids and alkalis, and suppress heavy metal adsorption and biofouling phenomenon, and may allow an organic material to be decomposed by ultrasonic waves or UV photocatalysts. In addition, the PVDF composite separation membrane has excellent mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance properties, suppresses the biofouling phenomenon, and exhibits high ultrasonic reactivity.
CONDUCTIVE MEMBRANE AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
The present application discloses a conductive membrane and a preparation method thereof, which belong to the field of membrane separation technology. The conductive membrane provided by the present application includes a porous base layer film, a porous intermediate layer film, and a porous conductive layer film which are disposed layer by layer in sequence; wherein at least some holes of the base layer film are communicated with holes of the conductive layer film through holes of the intermediate layer film, and material of the intermediate layer film is the same as material of the base layer film and of the conductive layer film. Regarding the conductive membrane provided by the present application, it can be coupled with electrochemical technology, so that the membrane exhibits new excellent properties at the same time of playing separating characteristic.
Hollow fiber membrane and manufacturing method thereof
A hollow fiber membrane of the present invention is a hollow fiber membrane having an outer surface and an inner surface, wherein the inner surface has a zebra stripe pattern in which dense portions and porous portions are alternately formed in the longitudinal direction, and the outer surface has a maximum pore size of about 1 μm or less (≤about 1 μm), and wherein the hollow fiber membrane has a water permeability (flux) of ≥about 1,300 LMH/bar to ≤about 5,000 LMH/bar.
