Unilateral transition means for adapting a wheelchair
09808384 · 2017-11-07 ·

A transition means for adapting a wheelchair is disclosed wherein a user or an occupant of the wheelchair is enabled to repeatably alternate the wheelchair between an original mode and an adapted mode by engaging and disengaging a unilaterally-connected adaptive implement.

Smart electric wheelchair for the elderly
11246774 · 2022-02-15 ·

The present invention is a smart electric wheelchair for the elderly, which comprises a battery for power supply and a control system for integrally controlling the electric wheelchair, and also comprises a body bracket, wherein the bottom of the body bracket is connected with a standing platform for a user to stand, a driving unit is provided on each side of the standing platform to drive the electric wheelchair; and a foldable seat is provided in the middle of the body bracket, and an armrest is provided on each side of the seat, with at least one of the armrests provided with a controller for controlling the entire electric wheelchair. The electric wheelchair is provided with a plurality of sensors which include a ranging and positioning sensor and/or an obstacle avoidance sensor, and further include an identification sensor, wherein the identification sensor identifiably corresponds to a one-to-one mobile identification device worn by a user, so that the electric wheelchair can automatically follow the user's position according to the collaboration between the mobile identification device and the sensor. The present invention solves the drawbacks of existing similar apparatuses and gives the elderly a better use experience, showing both practical and economical significance.

POWERED WHEELCHAIRS AND METHODS FOR MAINTAINING A POWERED WHEELCHAIR IN A PRE-SELECTED POSITION

A powered wheelchair includes a seat, a first leg, a second leg, and a control unit. The first leg includes a first inertial measurement unit configured to determine a position of the first leg and a first leg actuator configured to adjust a position of the first leg. The second leg includes a second inertial measurement unit configured to determine a position of the second leg and a second leg actuator configured to adjust a position of the second leg. The control unit is operable to determine a global orientation of the powered wheelchair by averaging the position of first leg and the position of the second leg, and automatically adjusting the position of the first leg with a first leg actuator and the position of the second leg with the second leg actuator based on the global orientation to maintain the seat in a pre-selected position.

SYSTEMS INCORPORATING A WHEELCHAIR WITH AN EXOSKELETON ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

Embodiments described herein are directed to a wheelchair system that includes a wheelchair and an exoskeleton. The wheelchair includes a frame, a pair of armrests coupled to the frame, and a control unit. The pair of armrests movable between an attached position and a detached position. When in the attached position, each one of the pair of armrests are coupled to the frame and when in the detached position, each one of the pair of armrests is removed from the frame. The exoskeleton is communicatively coupled to the control unit via a cable extending between the exoskeleton and the control unit. The exoskeleton being releasably coupled to at least a portion of the frame of the wheelchair. The wheelchair system is translatable between a wheelchair mode and an exoskeleton mode such that, when in the exoskeleton mode, the control unit provides electrical power and control signals to the exoskeleton.

STAIR LIFT

A stair lift, including: a carrier portion, configured for carrying a person or an object; a lift portion, configured for moving relative to the carrier portion; and a driver mechanism, configured for inducing the relative movement. The carrier portion and the lift portion are connected and supported via a guide mechanism, and are configured for freely translating along an X-Z plane relative to each other. The driver mechanism includes a circulation moving mechanism, and the circulation moving mechanism includes a driving pin (moving member), configured for moving along a predetermined closed track under the driving of a single gear motor. The driving pin (moving member) is connected to the lift portion, such that the carrier portion and the lift portion are configured for moving relative to each other along the track, whereby enabling the stair lift to go upstairs or downstairs.

A system, method, and apparatus to provide mobility assistance to disabled persons. The invention includes a self-driving electric cart for transporting a blind or other disabled person along a pre-defined route defined by a path of magnetic markers. The magnetic markers interact through radio waves with a control mechanism on the cart. Utilizing the present invention, the blind person could touch a button on a pre-programmed control screen and ride safely in self-driving carts to any of several specific destinations, such as a job site, grocery store, relative's home, etc.

STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM
20210370741 · 2021-12-02 ·

Embodiments of a suspension for a vehicle is provided. The suspension includes, for example, a frame and a locking assembly. The locking assembly inhibits tipping of a frame of the vehicle when tipping of the frame is detected.
