A compartment bracket having rails is attached to underside of the folding seat that pivots from a horizontal position to a vertical position. The compartment has flaps that engage with rails of the bracket to enable the compartment to enable a user of the stair lift to force the compartment to slide in and out from under the seat when the user is seated on the horizontally positioned folding seat. A stop is provided on the bracket to prevent the flaps on the compartment sliding out of the rails when the seat is pivoted to the vertical position.
