Microfluidic System Suitable for Liquid Mixing and Method
A microfluidic system and method suitable for liquid mixing. The microfluidic system uses a pump (400) as the driving source, which draws at least two liquid samples that are to be mixed into the pump (400). Some air is drawn into the pump (400) as well. The system is also comprised of a mixing reservoir (203). The two liquids drawn into the pump (400) are pushed into the mixing reservoir (203). The air bubbles generated by the air have a stirring effect on the mixed liquid in the mixing reservoir (203). After the air bubbles burst, left at rest, and the air has risen to the top of the mixing reservoir (203), the mixed liquid is drawn back to the pump (400) and fed to the outlet (103) for subsequent detection steps. The addition of an antifoaming agent will prevent the accumulation of air bubbles during the mixing process. In the system, the valves (501, 502, 503, 504) and the sensors (601, 602, 603, 604) in the microfluidic channels (301, 302, 303, 304) will be used for the operation of the microfluidic system and for the precise control of the flow.

Container
A container with two inner chambers (6, 7) running in its longitudinal direction and separated by at least one partition wall. An aerobic adhesive is stored in one inner chamber (6). A hydrophilic, gel-like activator is stored in the other inner chamber (7); a mixing unit can be attached to the front end of the container. The aerobic adhesive is fed to the mixing unit from the first inner chamber (6), and the hydrophilic activator is fed to the mixing unit from the second inner chamber (7), in a specified mixing ratio via a supply device and mixed together there. This mixture is discharged via an outlet opening (13) of the mixing unit.
COMPOUNDING DEVICE SYSTEM, SOFTWARE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE PROCESS OF COMPOUNDING ADMIXTURES
An exemplary compounding method of controlling a compounding device to prepare an admixture of at least two distinct material sources can include examining material source solutions for incompatibility of the ingredients and operating a first and a second pump to prevent one of the incompatible source solutions from entering a common flow path. The processing method can detect degradation of a fluid line by evaluating one or more of calibration error rate data, cumulative volumetric flow data, or cumulative pump operation data. The processing method can also selectively transfer a first group of source solutions using the first pump, receiving pump data from one or more sensors that sense actions of the pumps, applying fluid correction factors and calculating discrete pump movements, the pump movements being indicative of an amount of source solution displacement by a pump, and operating the pumps to selectively dispense the source solution amounts according to a preparation order.
Microfluidic devices with capillary dilutors
An embodiment for a microfluidic device is provided. The device comprises two areas, arranged side-by-side, and a trigger channel. They include a first area, which is delimited by a first liquid pinning barrier, and a second area, which is delimited by a second liquid pinning barrier. The latter extends parallel to the first liquid pinning barrier to delimit a corridor. The trigger channel extends through the corridor between the two areas. In addition, the trigger channel connects the first liquid pinning barrier with the second liquid pinning barrier, allowing a first liquid pinned at the first liquid pinning barrier and a second liquid pinned at the second liquid pinning barrier to be contacted, each, by a reverse flow of the second liquid in the trigger channel and thereby start mixing at a level of the corridor, in operation. The invention is further directed to related methods of operation.

The shaft extends through the wall and includes a proximal plunger positioned within the proximal chamber and a distal plunger positioned within the distal chamber. Pressure introduced through an opening in the proximal end moves the shaft such that the proximal plunger moves a fluid within the proximal chamber out of the first port and the distal plunger moves a fluid within the distal chamber out of the second port to simultaneously actuate a bone filler dispenser. Systems and methods are also provided.
