System and method for reducing viscosity variations in roofing asphalt
11186747 · 2021-11-30 · ·

An asphalt shingle coating system that includes a coater, a mixer, a viscosity gauge, a wax supply, a wax pump and a control system. The coater applies a layer of a coating asphalt mixture on an asphalt shingle substrate. The mixer mixes the coating asphalt mixture and is positioned upstream of the coater. The viscosity gauge may be positioned between the coater and the mixer, and it measures the viscosity of said coating asphalt mixture before it is delivered to the coater. The wax supply is in fluid communication with the mixer and a wax pump may deliver a volume of wax from the wax supply to the mixer, and the control system may selectively adjust the operation of the wax pump to substantially maintain a desired viscosity of said coating asphalt mixture.

MIXER AND METHOD FOR MIXING TWO COMPONENTS
20210362108 · 2021-11-25 ·

The disclosure relates to a specifically static mixer for mixing two components, with a housing, in which a mixing element is accommodated, and an input part with a first intake and a diametrically opposite second intake, wherein, within the input part, a first channel is formed between the first intake and the mixing chamber and a second channel is formed between the second intake and the mixing chamber. The first channel extends radially inward from the first intake and opens into a central opening in the cover. The second channel has two partial channels as storage chambers not leading into the mixing chamber, and two intake sections located radially within the storage chambers and leading into the mixing chamber. The intake sections branch off the respective storage chambers, extend inward in the opposite direction to the first channel and open into the central opening in the cover.

Fluid mixing apparatus and methods for mixing and improving homogeneity of fluids

Apparatus that mixes non-homogenous fluid. A threaded shaft within a housing circulates fluid within a container to effect mixing. In one embodiment, when placed in a container of fluid, the housing the fluid is recirculated through opposing ends of the housing. In an embodiment of a related method for mixing, a pump housing containing a screw journaled for rotation receives fluid within a container and conveys the fluid therethrough to circulate a fluid portion in the container along an exterior surface of the housing for mixing with another fluid portion to improve fluid homogeneity. After mixing, the portion of the fluid which first circulates through the housing may recirculate through the housing with said another portion of the fluid. The fluid may be continuously mixed and recirculated through the housing.

Mixer apparatus for mixing a high-viscosity fluid

A mixer apparatus for mixing a high-viscosity fluid has a mixer shaft with a plurality of blades affixed thereto, a hydraulic motor drivingly connected to the mixer shaft so as to rotate the mixer shaft, a hydraulic pump connected by a fluid circuit to the hydraulic motor so as to deliver hydraulic fluid under pressure to the hydraulic motor, an electric motor drivingly connected to the hydraulic pump, and a hydraulic fluid reservoir connected to the fluid circuit so as to supply hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic pump. The plurality of blades are pivotally mounted to the mixer shaft.

SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR HYDROCARBON BLENDING
20220002624 · 2022-01-06 · ·

A process for blending a hydrocarbon-based composition that includes combining a first heated water stream with a first hydrocarbon-based composition comprising asphaltene to create a first combined feed stream and allowing the first heated water stream and the first hydrocarbon-based composition to interact such that the second combined feed stream comprises micelles and reverse micelles, thereby preventing asphaltene aggregation. The process further includes similarly combining a second heated water stream with a second hydrocarbon-based composition to form a second combined feed stream. The process further includes introducing the first combined feed stream and the second combined stream into a supercritical blending vessel operating at a temperature greater than a critical temperature of water and a pressure greater than a critical pressure of water, and blending the first combined feed stream and the second combined stream to form a blended hydrocarbon-based composition.

Automated tank mixing

In one embodiment, the present system describes a system wherein a first fluid is within a tank. An intermittent mixer is used for agitating the first fluid within the tank. At least one data acquisition device within the tank is capable of measuring at least one characteristic within the first fluid. In the embodiment, at least one data analyzer is capable of receiving the characteristics within the first fluid, comparing the characteristics within the first fluid to the characteristics of a second fluid, generating a data packet which contains a calculated operational speed and an operational time needed for the intermittent mixer to agitate the first fluid to obtain the characteristics of the second fluid and transmitting the data packet to the intermittent mixer. In this system the intermittent mixer is capable of altering the first fluid within the tank into the second fluid.
