Systems, methods and computer-readable media are provided for determining the modality for transferring, lifting, or repositioning (TLR) a human patient in a health care setting contexts. In some cases, a model-based recursive partitioning and Bradley-Terry regression is applied, which may be optionally parallelized so as to determine statistical associations with various factors, such as caregiver attributes, care venue, and patient attributes. One embodiment determines a Bradley-Terry regression model from the recursive partitioning which may be incorporated into a TLR selection decision-support tool or otherwise utilized to identify the optimal modality.

Patient Support Systems And Methods For Assisting Caregivers With Patient Care

A patient support system comprises a patient support apparatus for patients. The patient support apparatus comprises a base and a patient support surface supported by the base. The patient support apparatus also comprises powered devices that perform one or more predetermined functions on the patient support apparatus. Multiple input devices are employed to control the powered devices. The input devices are designed to enable caregivers to cause operation of the powered devices, as needed, while freeing the caregivers to perform other tasks.

Hospital bed having drainage bag sensor

A patient bed includes a drainage bag sensor. The patient bed includes, for example, a frame configured to support a patient, a drainage bag holder coupled to the frame and configured to support a drainage bag, and a sensor to detect a presence of the drainage bag being supported by the drainage bag holder.

SYSTEM FOR MANAGING PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUSES AND PATIENT FALL RISKS
20230018517 · 2023-01-19 ·

A caregiver assistance system is disclosed for assisting a caregiver to ensure the beds of high fall risk patients are in desired states for reducing the likelihood of a patient falling. The system may also help the caregiver to perform rounding tasks. The system comprises a server in communication with the patients' beds and one or more mobile electronic devices (e.g. smart phones). The mobile devices receive answers to a plurality of fall risk questions and forward them to the server. The server generates a patient fall risk assessment from the answers, determines a desired state for fall-risk components of the bed if the patient fall risk assessment indicates the patient has a high risk of falling, compares the states of the fall-risk components to corresponding desired states, and issues an alert at the mobile device if any of the fall-risk components are not in their desired state.

PATIENT POSITIONING SUPPORT APPARATUS WITH FAIL-SAFE CONNECTOR ATTACHMENT MECHANISM

A patient support apparatus for supporting a patient in a prone position during a surgical procedure is provided, including an open fixed frame suspended above a floor and a pair of spaced opposed radially sliding joints cooperating with the frame, each joint including a virtual pivot point and an arc of motion spaced from the virtual pivot point, the joints being movable along the arc providing a pivot ship mechanism for a pair of pelvic pads attached to the joints. A base for supporting and suspending a patient support structure above the floor, for supporting a patient during a surgical procedure, the base including a pair of spaced opposed vertical translation subassemblies reversibly attachable to a patient support structure, a cross-bar, and a rotation subassembly having two degrees of rotational freedom; wherein a location of each vertical translation subassembly is substantially constant during operation of the patient support structure.

A patient support system for providing improved guidance and/or troubleshooting with respect to a patient support apparatus. A user interface is configured to receive inputs from a user, and an information output device is configured to provide instructions to the user. A controller determines a guidance protocol for the user based on the inputs. The guidance protocol comprises user-performed actions to be performed by the user in response to the instructions provided to the user with the information output device. The guidance protocol may be initiated and/or determined based on a troubleshooting request and/or an uncorrelated sequence of user inputs. At least one of the user-performed actions may be configured to control operational functions of a patient support apparatus. Methods for improving patient care by providing the guidance and/or troubleshooting are also disclosed.

VARIABLE GEOMETRY THERAPEUTIC BED TURNING AND CENTRALISING AN IMMOBILE PATIENT FOR THE PREVENTION OF PRESSURE WOUNDS WITH ASSOCIATED METHOD
20230355452 · 2023-11-09 ·

Device and method for turning a bedridden and immobile patient from left to right and vice-versa. It lessens the risk pressure wounds (bed wound, pressure sore). The device comprises a support surface having a variable geometry to create concave surfaces along the bed. The lowermost zone is formed to the left or to the right of the spine of the patient. Under the effect of gravity, the patient is turned towards the lowermost zone, softly. Once turned, the device also allows the centralisation of the patient towards the middle of the frame. The device may also laterally extend to give more space to a turned patient. By combining the shape change with a timer system, corporal pressure zones of the patient are cyclically displaced. It allows the turning of the patient based on current standards of care.

An inflatable device includes a top sheet, a bottom sheet, a cavity formed by the top sheet and the bottom sheet, wherein the top sheet and the bottom sheet are coupled together along a peripheral edge, a port in communication with the cavity and with an exterior of the device, and a valve, including a pocket located in a cavity having an entrance opening and an exit opening to deliver air to the cavity. The pocket is formed by a first and a second layer of material and is positioned along a first portion of the peripheral edge. The device further includes a second port in communication with the cavity, and a second valve in communication with the second port and the cavity. The second valve comprises a second pocket located within the cavity and positioned along at least a second portion of the peripheral edge.
