The positioning apparatus includes a wedge-shaped body configured to be placed under the support device to support a patient in a desired position and a tail including an elongated piece of material extending from the wedge-shaped body.
PATIENT TRANSPORT APPARATUS
A method of manufacturing a patient transfer system including obtaining an inflatable device, where the device includes a top sheet of material and a bottom sheet of material connected to the top sheet of material defining a cavity therebetween to be inflated. The device further includes a plurality of passages in the bottom sheet extending from the cavity to an exterior of the device, where the passages are configured to permit air to pass from the cavity to the exterior of the device. The device also including a plurality of inflation-limiting members connecting the top sheet and bottom sheet, and an input configured for receiving air to inflate the device. The method further includes providing an absorbent body pad with the inflatable device, the absorbent body pad configured to be positioned between the top sheet of material and a patient positioned on the inflatable device.
INFLATABLE MATTRESS WITH LONGITUDINALLY ORIENTED STRINGERS
A transfer mattress includes a top panel, a bottom panel, an outer stringer and an inner stringer. The top panel has a perimeter including a proximal edge and a distal edge, wherein a central longitudinal axis extends from the proximal edge to the distal edge. The bottom panel has a plurality of perforations and a perimeter including a proximal edge and a distal edge coupled to the perimeter of the top panel. The outer stringer and inner stringer each have a superior edge coupled to the top panel and an inferior edge coupled to the bottom panel and a longitudinal portion that is substantially parallel to the central longitudinal axis. The inner stringer is positioned between the central longitudinal axis and the outer stringer.
System and method for moving, turning, and positioning a patient
An apparatus includes a sheet having a top surface, a bottom surface, a first lateral side, and a second lateral side, a first flap coupled to the bottom surface proximate the first lateral side, a second flap coupled to the bottom surface proximate the second lateral side and longitudinally offset from the first flap, a first strap coupled to the first flap, and a second strap coupled to the second flap.
Air mattress control system
An air mattress control system is disclosed. The air mattress control system comprises a mattress and a gas regulating device. The mattress comprises a plurality of inflation layers. The gas regulating device comprises a first three-way solenoid valve, a pumping motor, a second three-way solenoid valve, a connecting conduit, a gas guiding device, and a control device. The pumping motor connects the first three-way solenoid valve and the second three-way solenoid valve connects the pumping motor. The connecting conduit connects the first three-way solenoid valve and the second three-way solenoid valve. The gas guiding device connects the connecting conduit and a plurality of the inflation layer. The control device controls the switch of the first three-way solenoid valve and the second three-way solenoid valve, and starting the pumping motor to inflate or deflate the plurality of inflation layers.
Patient support systems and methods for assisting caregivers with patient care
A patient support system for providing customized user menus. The system comprises a patient support apparatus, a user interface configured to receive input from a user, and a display configured to display user menus or information. The user menus may comprise indicia representative of the operational functions of the patient support apparatus. A controller determines the customized user menu based on usage characteristics, a position of the user interface in proximity to the patient support apparatus, a location of the user interface within a facility, an identification of the user, and/or a patient condition. A touchscreen and/or a mobile device may comprise the user interface and the display. The mobile device may be removably coupled to the patient support apparatus. Methods for improving patient care by providing the customized user menu are also disclosed.
System and method for patient positioning and offloading
Methods and systems of patient offloading include positioning an inflatable transfer mattress in a first position with respect to a surface supporting the inflatable transfer mattress. At least one inflatable positioning wedge is positioned in a second position with respect to the surface. The inflatable transfer mattress is positioned in a third position in which a portion of the inflatable transfer mattress overlaps a portion of the at least one inflatable positioning wedge. The at least one inflatable positioning wedge is inflated to transition the portion of the inflatable transfer mattress overlapping the portion of the at least one inflatable positioning wedge to a non-zero angle with respect to the surface.
SYSTEM FOR MANAGING PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUSES AND BED SORE RISKS
A caregiver assistance system is disclosed for helping caregivers manage the care of existing bed sores and/or reduce the risk of a patient developing bed sores. The system may also help the caregiver to perform rounding tasks and/or to reduce the likelihood of patient falls. The system comprises a server application in communication with the patient's bed and one or more mobile electronic devices (e.g. smart phones). The mobile devices receive individual assessments of a plurality of bed sore risk factors and forward them to the server. The server generates bed sore risk scores from the answers and forward them to an EMR server. The server may also determine one or more risk reduction steps, display them on the mobile electronic device, and/or forward them to the patients' beds for implementation thereon. Additional bed sore information may be captured and sent to the EMR.
Patient turning device with removable windows
A patient turning device attaches to side rails of a bed on one end in at least two spaced apart locations. Straps of the device are then placed under a patient and/or patient is placed on top of such straps. Between two of the straps are connecting straps extending perpendicular thereto, such as where the first straps are horizontal and the connecting straps are vertical. Connected to some of the vertical and/or horizontal straps are removable windows which are material which fills in at least some of the area between the first straps, connects to at least some of the connecting straps, and are removably and replacably connected to cover (fill in) some of this area between the straps. This allows for access to a patient's back after rotating the patient, in embodiments of the disclosed technology.
Patient turning device for a patient support apparatus
A patient turning device for a patient support apparatus. The patient turning device includes a first and second bladder assembly each including a plurality of layers and seals defining a bladder volume. The bladder volumes are selectively inflatable with fluid to expand the respective bladder assembly, and consequently move a patient support surface of the patient support apparatus. A portion of a lower layer of the first bladder assembly and a portion of an upper layer of the second bladder assembly define an overlapping region of the bladder volumes. The patient turning device is coupled to an underside of a carrier sheet and positioned between a crib assembly and a bottom cover. An augmenting feature is configured to resiliently expand as at least one of the first and second bladder assemblies receives the fluid to move at least a portion of the crib assembly away from a patient support deck.
