Patient Turning Device For A Patient Support Apparatus
A patient turning device for a patient support apparatus. The patient turning device includes a first and second bladder assembly each including a plurality of layers and seals defining a bladder volume. The bladder volumes are selectively inflatable with fluid to expand the respective bladder assembly, and consequently move a patient support surface of the patient support apparatus. A portion of a lower layer of the first bladder assembly and a portion of an upper layer of the second bladder assembly define an overlapping region of the bladder volumes. The patient turning device is coupled to an underside of a carrier sheet and positioned between a crib assembly and a bottom cover. An augmenting feature is configured to resiliently expand as at least one of the first and second bladder assemblies receives the fluid to move at least a portion of the crib assembly away from a patient support deck.
PATIENT SUPPORT WITH IMPROVED CONTROL
A patient support apparatus includes a patient support surface, a plurality of caster wheels supporting the patient support surface on a floor or ground surface, a brake for manually braking at least one caster wheel of the plurality of caster wheels, and a handle or pedal for manually operating the brake, with the handle or pedal at least having a brake position. The patient support apparatus also includes an electrical actuator configured to couple to the brake and to selectively output a driving force and a user interface in communication with the electrical actuator. In response to input at the user interface, the electrical actuator generating the driving force to actuate the brake to thereby brake the at least one caster wheel, and wherein the driving force of the actuator moves the handle or pedal to the brake positon when the actuator actuates the manually operable brake to brake the caster wheel.
Pedal assembly for a patient support apparatus
A patient support apparatus includes a pedal assembly for selecting between a first state and a second state different from the first state, and comprising first and second pedals. The first and second pedals are configured to pivot together in a first rotational direction relative to a respective pivot axis to transition from the first state to the second state, and the first and second pedals are configured to pivot together in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction to transition from the second state to the first state. At least a distal portion of the first pedal is configured to pivot independently from the second pedal in the first rotational direction when in the first state, and at least a distal portion of the second pedal is configured to pivot independently from the first pedal in the second rotational direction when in the second state.

Apparatus and method for computer control of a patient support device using an environmental parameter
A patient support device has a bed, a travel mechanism designed to move the patient support device, a control computer and a sensor, which detects at least one environmental parameter of the patient support device. The control computer ascertains a control parameter for controlling the travel mechanism depending on the at least one detected environmental parameter.

Patient support apparatus with deck section actuator
A patient support apparatus for supporting a patient comprising a support frame and a support deck coupled to the support frame. The support deck has a deck section arranged to articulate relative to said support frame between a first position and a second position. An actuator is interposed in force-translating relation between the support frame and the deck section to articulate the deck section. The actuator comprises a biasing device configured to store mechanical energy and having an interface. The actuator further comprises a torque multiplier coupled to the deck section and engaged with the interface to translate mechanical energy stored in the biasing device into force acting on the deck section to urge the deck section toward the first position.

Running wheel
A running wheel for a patient positioning device (30) is provided. The running wheel has a wheel (1) and a receiving device (4) for rotatably receiving the wheel (1) around a first rotational axis (5), which is arranged centrally with respect to a circumference of the wheel (1). The wheel (1) has a wheel body (3), and multiple circumferential castors (7), each having a second rotational axis (8) arranged in a direction tangential to a circumference of the wheel (1), wherein the circumferential castors (7) form a bearing surface of the wheel (1).
Device for converting a bed, in particular a care bed, sick bed, hospital bed, or intensive-care bed, from a horizontal position into an inclined position with respect to the logitudinal sides of the bed
A configuration for moving a bed, in particular a care bed, sick bed, or intensive-care bed, from a horizontal position into an inclined position with respect to the longitudinal sides of the bed. A receiving device for receiving the bed and a stand device for ensuring a stable stand of the configuration are operatively connected via an adjusting mechanism which inclines the receiving device relative to the stand device. The verticalization process is decoupled from the respective existing bed and thus allows a large degree of flexibility for care personnel during a routine therapy session, allowing a safe and comfortable therapy for a patient confined to a bed. The configuration according to the invention is suitable for both a new installation as well as for retrofitting medical and/or care device equipment and advantageously saves on the otherwise necessary expenditures on beds with their own verticalization mechanism.
