The u-shaped cover base ridge is inserted into the front top cavity when the cover mounts upon the bedpan. The cover is connected to the bedpan by a hinge. A lid has a lid panel and is connected to the bedpan by a lid hinge. The bedpan having the cover and lid are for a single use and are disposable. A plurality of the bedpan having the cover and the lid are stackable upon one another. The bedpan having the cover and the lid collects waste.

The transfer apparatus has a chair support member including a chair support track section that can be positioned in the washing enclosure base. The transfer apparatus also has a bridge portion including a bridge track section that is movably mounted to the chair support member. The bridge portion transitions between a storage position and an in-use position. In the in-use position the bridge portion is engaged with the wheelchair and the bridge track section is aligned with the chair support track section. The chair seat can be translated from the wheelchair along the bridge track section to the chair support track section when the bridge portion is in the in-use position and engaged with the wheelchair.

The bedpan is constructed and arranged to allow for urine flow into the bedpan tray and proceed into the collection bottle between the legs of a patient. The bedpan assembly offers greater dignity and comfort to the patient, and greater convenience and time savings for medical personnel.

A hospital bed provides improved handling of non-ambulatory patients and others who cannot easily be moved, such as to a hospital room toilet. The hospital bed includes a flexible mattress and a belt attached to the flexible mattress ends. The hospital bed frame has a pallet for supporting the flexible mattress and a chute attached to the frame beneath the pallet that receives the end of the flexible mattress. Multiple rollers direct the flexible mattress and belt. A motor supplies rotational force to one of the rollers and one of the rollers also provides for bending the flexible mattress to enter the chute, so that the end of the flexible mattress is guided underneath the pallet. A system includes the hospital bed with a detachable sanitary station. The sanitary station includes a toilet top and unites with the bed to deliver the patient to a position atop the toilet.
