Methods of bead manipulation and forming bead arrays
According to various embodiments, a method is provided that comprises washing an array of DNA-coated beads on a substrate, with a wash solution to remove stacked beads from the substrate. The wash solution can include inert solid beads in a carrier. The DNA-coated beads can have an average diameter and the solid beads in the wash solution can have an average diameter that is at least twice the diameter of the DNA-coated beads. The washing can form dislodged DNA-coated beads and a monolayer of DNA-coated beads. In some embodiments, first beads for forming an array are contacted with a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) solution comprising a PEG having a molecular weight of about 350 Da or less. In some embodiments, slides for forming bead arrays are provided as are systems for imaging the same.

The invention is furthermore a mixing system for mixing fluids comprising a data entry unit (200), a control unit, and the mixing apparatus. The invention is furthermore a fountain pen (100) comprising a container (25) adapted for storing ink which is filled up applying the mixing apparatus.
STRUCTURED ELEMENT COATED IN A DISTINGUISHED MANNER AND SERVING AS SUPPORT FOR THE FLOW OF SEVERAL FLUIDS
A structured element intended to be in contact with at least one first fluid and one second fluid, the structured element comprising a surface for circulating fluids structured by the presence of air cavities with a depth of between 100 and 1000 m and distributed regularly over the structured surface, each cavity being delimited by a cavity surface. According to the invention, the cavity surface comprises at least one first zone and one second zone succeeding one another along a direction of depth of the cavity, the first zone being coated with a first set of particles having properties for repelling the first fluid, and the second zone being coated with a second set of particles, different from the first set.
FLUID MIXING AND HEAT EXCHANGE DEVICE
Methods and systems are provided for mixing and heat exchange of fluids. In one example, a fluid mixing and heat exchange device includes a hot water tank, a mixing chamber spaced away from the hot water tank and fluidly coupled to a first liquid reservoir, a first chilling module fluidly coupled to the mixing chamber, a coolant tank fluidly coupled to the first chilling module, a radiator fluidly coupled to the coolant tank, and a dispensing manifold fluidly coupled to the mixing chamber and adapted to dispense a mixed and chilled fluid mixture to a plurality of fluid vessels.
Diaphragm pump with improved tank recirculation
An assembly made up of a pump, a container and an augmented fluid-recirculating system for increased working fluid agitation, and a method of agitating a liquid within a containeras well as dispensing such a liquid from the containerwhere the liquid has been subjected to such augmented agitation prior to such dispensing. The pump cooperates with the fluid-recirculating system that includes an eductor such that the liquid resident within the container may be recirculated in a manner to promote its own agitation. In addition, air or a related fluid may be passively introduced upstream of the pump such that it also may pass through the eductor. In one form, the assembly defines a closed-loop system such that the air or other gas already present in the container may be introduced selectively, while in another form, the assembly defines an open-loop system that retrieves air from a local external environment. In either case, the introduction of such air or related gas may be selective, thereby permitting an operator to dictate if such air should be recirculated. In addition, the use of a diaphragm pump helps avoid damage to the portions of the pump that are exposed to a mixed phase fluid flow made up of the air and recirculated liquid.
SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR TREATING ALKALINE WASTEWATER
A system for treating alkaline wastewater includes a first conduit and a second conduit. The first conduit has a first conduit inlet end for receiving alkaline wastewater, a first conduit outlet end for discharging primary treated wastewater, a first conduit upstream portion adjacent the first conduit inlet end, and a first conduit downstream portion adjacent the first conduit outlet end. A first static mixer is in the first conduit. The second conduit has a second conduit inlet end in communication with the first conduit outlet end for receiving the primary treated wastewater, a second conduit outlet end for discharging secondary treated wastewater, a second conduit upstream portion adjacent the second conduit inlet end, and a second conduit downstream portion adjacent the second conduit outlet end. A second static mixer is in the second conduit. A citric acid source is in communication with the first conduit and the second conduit.
Method and apparatus for the purification of extra-chromosomal nucleic acids sequences
The present invention relates to a new apparatus and a new method for the purification and the recovery of extra-chromosomal nucleic acids sequence(s).
NON-CLOGGING AIRLIFT PUMPS AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS EMPLOYING THE SAME
Non-clogging airlift pumps and associated systems and methods employing said pumps. The airlift pumps generally include an enclosed air tank within which is located a hollow cylinder having an open top and a closed bottom wall. A gas (e.g., air) line passes into the air tank for supplying gas thereto. A suction port is located in the bottom wall of the cylinder, and a substantially vertically-oriented discharge pipe passes through a top wall of the air tank such that an intake end of the discharge pipe resides within the cylinder. Multiple airlift pumps may be used in conjunction in a given application.
