PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS WITH STABILIZATION

A patient support apparatus includes a base, a seat supported by the base and a backrest pivotable between an upright position and a reclined position. In one embodiment, a backrest support member is coupled to the backrest and is adapted to move between a stowed position in which the backrest support member does not support the backrest and a deployed position in which the backrest support member does support the backrest. Movement to the deployed position occurs in response to activation of an emergency control. In other embodiments, the base includes a portion that moves into an extended position underneath the backrest when the backrest is in the reclined position. Movement of the base portion to the extended position also occurs in response to activation of an emergency control.

A support chair has a base with wheels, a support post with a translation mechanism, a power system with controls, an upper seat portion having a downward-extending post engaging the support post and engaging the translation mechanism such that the chair portion raises and lowers, a back-support portion hinged to the seat portion, a leg-support portion hinged to the seat portion, a plurality of attachment interfaces implemented to frame elements of the support chair, and at least one multiply-articulated peripheral support assembly having a padded surface at one end and a support interface at an opposite end, the support interface enabled to join to any one of the attachment interfaces implemented to the frame elements.

Retractable wheel base

A base with retractable wheels is provided for an examination, procedure or surgical table or chair for use in the medical, dental, or veterinary fields that can be easily switched between a stationary state and a mobile state. The base includes fixed wheels on one end and on the other end stationary foot pads and retractable wheels that can be engaged by a lift mechanism that can transfer the weight of the table or chair from the foot pads onto the wheels, allowing the table or chair to be more easily moved within a room.

Device and method for positioning a joint

The present invention related to a joint positioning device for positioning a joint and methods for using such devices. The joint positioning device may comprise a patient support comprising a substantially flat surface, the patient support configured to be positioned proximate to a chair; a shoulder pole mounted to the patient support, the shoulder pole oriented substantially perpendicular to a substantially flat surface of the patient support; and a cylindrical shoulder pad mounted to the shoulder pole, the shoulder pad oriented substantially perpendicular to the shoulder pole. The joint positioning device may further comprise a vertical pillar, the vertical pillar oriented substantially perpendicular to the substantially flat surface of the patient support.

Personal mobility assistance devices with integrated light sets

A personal mobility assistance device includes a frame that includes a first ridged component moveable relative to a second ridged component by a linkage mechanism. The first rigid frame component has a first light emitter mounted in a first opening in the first rigid frame component and the second rigid frame component has a second light emitter mounted in a second opening in the second rigid frame component. The first light emitter is connected to a first component conductor portion of a conductor within the first rigid component and the second light emitter connected to a second component conductor portion of the conductor within the second rigid component. A conductor connection mechanism within the linkage mechanism includes a plurality of contacts that electrically connect the second component conductor portion to the first conductor portion when the linkage mechanism is in at least one position.
