Apparatus and method for cryogranulating a pharmaceutical composition
Cryogranulation systems with improved dispenser assemblies are provided for use in manufacturing frozen pellets of pharmaceutical substances in a fluid medium. Methods of cryogranulating the pharmaceutical substance in the fluid medium are also provided. In particular embodiments, the dispenser assembly is used with suspensions or slurries of pharmaceutical compositions including biodegradable substances, such as proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids. In certain embodiments, the pharmaceutical substance can be adsorbed to any pharmaceutically acceptable carrier particles suitable for making pharmaceutical powders. In one embodiment, the pharmaceutical carrier can be, for example, diketopiperazine-based microparticles. The dispenser assembly improves the physical characteristics of the cryopellets formed and minimizes product loss during processing.
Drying systems
Provided are improved steam-drying systems, the systems being configured so as to multiple resin streams into steam streams.

Dosage forms maturation device, machine and process for producing dosage forms with the device
A maturation device for uncured polymeric dosage forms includes an external drum with an upstream inlet for entrance of a fluid with uncured dosage forms, and a downstream outlet for discharging cured dosage forms. The maturation device further includes a first body inside the drum defining at least one maturation chamber extending in the body between an upstream chamber inlet, in fluid communication with the inlet for uncured dosage forms, and a chamber downstream outlet. A first separation element is also included having a solid region, and a passing-through region, able, in an open condition of the chamber downstream outlet, to open the chamber outlet. At least the internal body is rotatable around an own axis to determine the closing/opening condition of a chamber downstream outlet of the internal body.

Method and Apparatus for Freezing Dispensed Droplets of Liquid
A method and apparatus for freezing a liquid droplet includes dispensing, by a liquid dispenser (14), a droplet (13) of liquid into a fluid chamber (10) containing a freezing fluid (12). The droplet of liquid is allowed to dwell in the freezing fluid for at least a predetermined dwell time so that the droplet of liquid freezes to a frozen droplet. The method and apparatus further includes injecting, by a gas injector (17), a stream (16) of gas transversely to a surface of the freezing fluid at about where the frozen droplet is located along the surface of the freezing fluid contained in the fluid chamber so that the frozen droplet sinks in the freezing fluid.

System and method for synthesizing polymeric capsules for water softening
A system and method are directed toward the synthesis of polymeric capsules using a phase inversion process by extrusion of polymeric droplets through a syringe-needle assembly or an iris-shutter mechanism. The polymeric solution may be prepared by dissolving PAN (polyacrylonitrile) polymer in DMF (Dimethyl Formamide) solvent at high temperature through continuous stirring. Following preparation of the capsules, further treatment was initiated using triethylamine in gelation bath to make the final product an efficient removal agent of water hardness.

Packed bed emulsification
A system and method for producing fine droplets of polysaccharide from a premixed water-in-oil emulsion uses a packed bed (5) comprising hydrophilic beads (7).
