The disclosed apparatus, system and method may include at least an adjustable platform for a surgical footpedal, such as may be associated with a phacoemulsification surgical console. The adjustable platform for a surgical footpedal may include a bearing arm having a mount; a pedal, having associated therewith one or more sensors indicative of at least one surgical setting; and a platform at a first end of the bearing arm distal from the mount, comprising a mating surface for receiving the pedal.

A device for removing obstructions impeding movement of a piece of equipment is disclosed. The device includes a sweep housing securely holding at least part of a rectangular sweep. A bristle portion of the sweep extends downward and away from the sweep housing, and includes a plurality of bristles. The sweep housing is made up of an inside bracket, which mounts to the surgical table by an adhesive strip or other means, and an outside bracket which comprises a thumbscrew or other locking mechanisms for securing the sweep housing and sweep in a fixed position with respect to each other. When an operator mounts the device, obstructions are pushed away from castors on the base of the surgical table by the one or more bristles.

A pediatric x-ray and examination chair (PXEC) on which a person, particularly a child, can safely and comfortably be placed when an x-ray is being taken or a medical examination is performed. The PXEC has a horizontal seat platform, a rear vertical support extending upward from the back of the seat platform, a right vertical support frame and a left vertical support frame. A front side lower x-ray cartridge support and a rear upper x-ray cartridge support each maintain an x-ray cartridge adjacent a person in the PXEC while an x-ray is taken. A restraining harness with a waist belt and a front center belt secures a child within the PXEC. Located on the seat platform and within slots on each of the vertical support frames are cushions to increase the comfort of a child in the PXEC. In order to provide a calming distraction a simulated animal head, such as a pony or cat, can extend from the front of the PXEC. A speaker, along with a source playback device, facilitates sound coming from the animal head, such as neighing from the horse or meowing from the cat. The animal head with or without the sound, will calm and distract a child who is uncomfortable and/or afraid during an x-ray procedure or medical examination.

A system in which technology is associated with adjustable furniture includes at least one use position (in which the technology is available for use) and a storage position (in which the technology is not available for use). The technology is movable between the use position and the storage position. At least one use position is preferably located near the head of the furniture. In the storage position, the technology may be in a container, which may be a sterilizing container. When using this chair, it is placed in an expanded or use position, so a user may sit on the seat cushion and lean on the massage chair, completely exposing his back, waist, and hips for a masseur to massage. When the chair needs to be put away, it is possible to fold the chair into a collapsed position by folding the seat cushion assembly, front support piece, chest pillow assembly, and handrail assembly. Also, the front and back supporting leg assemblies are folded underneath and towards the main supporting frame. Consequently, the size of the entire chair decreases.
